I know this is really not WDW parks discussion, but this one gets the most responses.

I would like to have a "Disney Night" at home on Friday's for our family. We have a 4 year old daughter and 8 month old daughter.

I have fond memories of sitting at home on a Sunday night eating my mom's homemade pizza watching Wonderful World of Disney on tv with the family. I want to start a new tradition with my family.

Here are some of the activities I was thinking about:
1. Disney movie
2. Disney Scene It game
3. play with our Disney toys

Well...that's about it. So, do any of you do something like this with your family? What types of things do you do? I'm looking for more ideas to use.

Thanks for your help.

You could set aside some time to look at pics or videos from previous WDW trips.
I record & keep the WDW shows that come on the Travel Channel, etc. & we watch them when we start to miss WDW.
Since you have girls, you could have a Disney Princess Tea Party w/ them (I have done that w/ my DD & it was lots of fun - we played Disney music).
You could have a Pirate Treasure Hunt (if your oldest girl likes the POTC).
Have fun!

By the way, I am thinking about purchasing the Disney Scene It? DVD Game for my oldest DS for Christmas.
Is it fun?

Games: Magic Kingdom board game (available at toysrus.com and other sites), Disney Monopoly board games, various Disney-themed card games

Books: There are all sorts of them out there, we make it an event by going to the library to pick out one or two then coming home and curling up to read them together. (Usually there's a pizza thrown in there somewhere too) Libraries are also a good place to find old Disney movies on video, esp. ones you might not want to buy.

Make scrapbook pages with photos and other momentos from your trips. I've never figured it out, but just trying to do one or two pages can eat up an entire evening...

Just look through photo albums from past trips. My daughter will spend hours and hours doing that.

Have kids draw pictures of their favorite moments from your last trip. It's amazing what they'll come up with!

And our #1 favorite...create a "ride" in your home! We've set up It's a Small World a couple of times - we get out all my daughter's dolls, then my daughter gets into the "boat" (a large cardboard box) and I push her through it  We've also done other rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, the Kilimajaro Safari, etc. It's amazing what you can do with a box and a bunch of stuffed animals!

Oh, yeah. I forgot about watching video from our past Disney trips.

The Disney Scene It game is fun. They just came out with a new 2nd version of it that is updated with The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille and other new movie trivia since the first one came out.

I saw the 2nd edition one also.
I figured it included some of the new Disney movies.
I will add it to my oldest DS's Christmas wish list (although I think I will have fun playing it too) :D

What about a Hidden Mickey game?

Make Mickey's out of paper and hide them around the house. Then make clues for people to follow or just see who can find the most. The winner gets to pick the movie or hide the Mickey's or something.

We do the book thing too - my son loves it! But don't forget about Disney food. You can make Mickey shaped hamburgers, pancakes, etc. There are lots of ideas out there, you just gotta be creative! Someone may have already said this but I like letting kids do their own scrapbook. Pick out the pics that mean the most to them and then let 'em go nuts with crayons, glitter, stickers etc. It's fun to see what they come up with. You can also fill the scrapbook with Disney themed coloring and activity pages that your kids do. These can be printed off from the Disney website. Hope you have fun on your "Disney Night" - can I come over too!:lookaroun

Disney Scene It is way too easy - I much prefer The D Show, the computer game that they released like 10 years ago. If that is still available, you should try to track that one down. The theme song alone will get stuck in your head forever.

The first Disney Night was a success. I left it up to my oldest daughter (4 years) to pick out the activity. She chose to play Disney Scene It. She almost won, but I came on at the end and won. :)

Thanks again for all the ideas.

This is an idea that works well for all ages, and it doesn't have to be expensive. There are so many idea sites out there, and you can encourage creativity by challenging the kids to make their own decorations. Also, since WDW is such a great learning experience, you can get some good writing skills developed by journaling in the book.

The Small World idea is adorable, too. You are so creative!
