Ooohh la-la!

I think it's time to rename this thread to Yvette Fest.

KUNGALOOSH!

I can't imagine there's a big need for this unless lunch is a dead zone. Getting reservations is near impossible unless you do it 4 months out because of DDP.
We went last month. Made a reservation four days in advance.

Even then, most of the people for lunch didn't have reservations. And only had a 15 minute wait.

*sigh*...

Why can't people simply enjoy something for what it is instead of complaining about what it isn't??

Remy looks to be pretty darn cool and I have little doubt many, many folks will find it entertaining to see him while dining.

This isn't a true audio animatronic, the term is so abused. True AA's were created to sync audio with the movement of or the lips of/or physical movement of the character using time code. This little rat just moves around willy nilly. The yeti does the same moves over and over on cue and not synced to anything really except cued to move when the train enters the tunnel (if he was working at all). The fish in 20K just did the same moves over and over. They are all mechanical, nothing more than a Christmas display at Lord & Taylor in NYC.

Maybe you should wait until you see all of his shows or all of his programs. He actually has 4 programmed shows where he dances to music. He does a mean MC Hammer, then sways softly around to a French love song, He is very impressive when you see him in his full capabilities. The programmers really make him act like a real mouse and it is nice to see it that way.

I haven't seen him in the restaurant setting, but probably he is always in manual mode that way he can turn and look at each person and interact that way.

Personally, I think he looks adorable. If my solo trip this fall pans out, I just may have to try and get a reservation. I wasn't going to do any sit downs as I'd be by myself, but I'd make an exception to see Remy.

I agree--he's not marketed as a major attraction--just some added magic while you are eating. If they marketed him as the highlight of a $100,000,000 E-Ticket, then I'd be underwhelmed.

To me the Reme is just so-so. I really hope they didn't spend a ton of money on this. The same effect could have been pulled off by a simple puppeteer under that rolling table. IMO it would have been pretty cool for him to be located somewhere near the front of the restaurant and when they took your name so they could call you when your table was ready and he could just be standing there on that little wall as if he was over seeing the operations of the dining room and say something like welcome (insert family name here) family, I hope you enjoy your dining with us. Also on the way out he could ask something like I hope you enjoyed dining with us, they could add in the name again, or any number of things that a true host would say...illuminations is getting ready to start, its hot outside may I sudgest catching a showing of Impressions de France. He could offer birthday wishes, anniversary congrats..the possibility is endless.

I think this is perfect for Epcot. The fact that it is a very subtle character tie in is perfect as others have already mentioned.
Now if only this guy wasn't going to leave after 9 months.:hammer:

I think this is a great, very cool addition to an already awesome Park. Remy will be a neat, fun surprise for diners in 'France' i think.....and it can only be a plus having this 'Plus' around.

It should be noted that the serving tray Remy is sitting on can be picked up and held/moved around! Seeing the photos one assumes it is 'attached' to the food cart. NO no no! He is totally PORTABLE! When i saw a quick video clip of the tray being carried around, i found it more impressive. Check out the vids out there ..all of them...as just watching one does in no way give the entire picture of what this little chef can do.

Do you have a link to this video of him being carried around....the only ones I could find he is on a cart. The serving platter can be spun around but didnt see any that it was taken off the cart and carried around. If this is true than I am truely impressed as something that small with that many movements and sound is amazing.

Just a request - if ripping a photo from my site (Mousesteps), please give credit. Thanks!

I put my photos/videos up first a month ago, I've been 3 times - this particular photo was from a couple of weeks ago. It took Disney a while to actually get on the Remy bandwagon.

I swear, the control pad for that thing must be half a joystick, 3 squeaking sounds, and a "dance" button with some sort of metronome.

It is very small indeed. Controlled by the operators thumb on the lid to the tray that they hold behind their back. But it's enough to be cute and that's all it's ment to be.

*sigh*...

Exactly. He isn't a major draw in any means and was never planned to be. It's simply a "plus" for dining at the restaurant. A "plus" that you don't have to pay for that brings enjoytment to people who see him.

well I know where I want to eat come sep. Wow, what a great little "non-AA" I guess some will call him, but I will just call him Remy.
