As for why the stock is up despite the meh earnings a) they announced a dividend resumption, b) they're actually expecting less content spend this year than usual because of the delays, c) password-sharing crackdown, d) price increases.

Which is what investors have been wanting the whole time.

Here's the info on the new ad-free bundle.

Disney on Sept. 6 will launch a new ad-free bundled subscription plan with Disney+ and Hulu for $19.99/month, a 37% discount from the standalone plans.

Full list of the new pricing in the table below.

Interesting. I have Disney+ and Hulu, both no ads, through Hulu at $18 a month right now. $2+ per month isn't awful, but isn't ideal either. With all the streaming platforms increasing like this in price, I think I need to finally jump on the subscribe to each a few months of the year to catch up and then unsubscribe the rest of the year.

I hope they make up some revenue by spending less on terrible-quality media.

It’s not bad but it’s not great. I don’t think Disney is either too big to fail or in the worst straits but they definitely need course corrections; and a new CEO
Remember that free spending has largely continued from the government juice period since 2020

Don’t fool yourself…any decline is bad

There’s no valid reasons for:
1. Attendance loses
2. Box office loses
3. Subscriber losses

Seems like trying to push more people to ad-supported
Which is exactly why people hated cable
I know this is pages ago, but from what I've seen, it is pushing people totally away. The people I've seen comment on the price increase aren't switching to ad-supported; they're completely cancelling D+.
Well two things will cause massive sub loss:

1. Higher prices
2. Ad tiers

…bet me now. And add some zeros on it 💲💲😎

I am sure some will for sure and some will just pay the high price

Definitely seeing more and more chatter about having to pick and choose which they get - personally we have talked more of getting rid of Netflix if anything

People who just go ahead and pay the increase don't go around and share that info. So, you're not hearing from them letting you and us all know all the price hikes on all the subscriptions they have that they just go along with.

People who quit tend to let it be known because they're angry.

Anyhoos... for two quarters straight, Iger mentioned that the price increase had no significant affect on churn. Despite anecdotes.

Valid losses at the box office is all on Iger... Disney stopped creating movies and driving the market, instead Iger took them on the "buy creation aka buy your competition" path, the bought Pixar, Marvel, lucas etc... and proxy their creativity to them.

Just look at the upcoming "Snow white and the village people" that's been officially announced as a box office flop in waiting.

Iger (1st go around) said "mirror mirror on the wall, who makes the fairest cartoon of all? OK then buy them"

10 million subscribers lost this year? With adds so that’s a bit more “churn” than you think (if you don’t think)

Probably north of 10%?

I know…those are the “bad subscribers”
