Q: DTC Hulu... international? When? Getting rights back?

Hulu is planned to go international. Priority, tho, on D+. Prob 2021.

NFL and live sports is strong, just in preliminary discussions.

I gotta ask why that’s “surprising” at all? What we’ve seen from streaming is those that add the most amount of content: Netflix and prime...have become bigger players than those that try to stay more concentrated (ie Hulu or
CBS all access)

Gotta give the fickle people what they Want

Q: Will Disney property be as popular in international markets? Any more on the India launch?

Bob:

The Disney brands are global, with strengths in some area, tho, "Disney" is strong is everywhere.

E.g., Star Wars isn't as strong in markets in which there was no history for the OT. However, Mandalorian is doing well internationally, even where other SW wasn't strong.

D+ has raised affinity for the Disney brand among young people.

India: D+ will be bundled in hotstar and tiered by amount of access to old and new shows. Launched with India's Cricket finals, which is huge.

@MisterPenguin , about D+ becoming available internationally, are they only talking India for the time being, or were any other regions mentioned? Thank you.

Q: What's the profile of the subscribers?

Studio success... can it succeed with current pipeline?

Bob:

The bundles and offers worked very well. Fifty percent were straight thru D+.com. About 25% from Verizon. And, of course, mostly domestic thus far. Bundles lowered churn rate (holding onto subs). UI got high marks. Pricepoint and brand big factors.

Studio: Not likely to repeat an $11B year (soon). But confidant with what's in pipeline. SW is taking a theatrical break, focusing at D+ series. Rogue1 preview and OB1 still on.

Q: D+ prediction ws 60m-90 sub in 5 years, but, since you're ahead of schedule, will you change prediction for profitability coming in sooner?

Bob:

Too early in a quarter to change profitability predictions. Keep in mind that streaming isn't as big in international markets.

We're at the number in the US that we were thinking would be at in year 5 in just 1 quarter.

Disney has a unique product v. other streamers. And technically it's working great.

Q: Gratz on D+! How are people consuming D+. Use a lot and peter off? Are you confident in what will happen internationally?

Bob:

Recency: how many are active still: high.

Frequency: high

Weekly Hourly: high (6-7 hours during holidays)

So, good in all 3 metrics.

Musicals, shorts, theatrical movies coming to D+... all doing well.

International challenges: need to work on local content. In some areas, internet connection is low.

Q: Hulu.. how's ad and no-ad subs are doing?

Parks.. what percent of profit comes from China? And what's the growth potential for parks? Can spending per guest keep going up (can there be more yield)

Christine: Hulu ad supported is strong. Most subs are ad-supported.

18-22% of profit is Asian. South American issues (Brazil and Argentina) had lower visitation.

No Asian market is in top five of international visitors.

Japan visitors are barely in top five visitor market.

No indication that coronavirus is slowing international visitors.

Bob: Parks going really well with lots of projects using most popular IPs. More resorts. Will still look to international growth.

Yield has gone up with surge pricing (and discounts) to smooth peak visits.

Q: D+. Price seem right now v. competitions. Will it go up?

What's happening with studio income?

Bob: Haven't looked at price changing since it started. Maybe if there is a lot more new content. No near term changes.

Christine: Legacy Disney did great. Will still be successful globally.

Q: So... theatrical window... we think you're lying that you'll still keep it because the market is really stupid and I am the stupidest of them all (I'm paraphrasing).

Bob: We're still going to have a theatrical window. It's working for us. Did you not see that we made $11B in the theatrical window you stupid idiot. (I'm paraphrasing here, again.)
