I wish I had more time to respond to this in full.

Let me give a quick hitter.

How many quarters in a row can they lose 1+ millions subs and still be profitable ?
I'm curious how they expect to go from losing 1 million in a quarter to adding 5.5 - 6 Million in the next two months? Purely Swifties? Or is that banking on free accounts like I got for Hulu with ads on TMobile, though I haven't activated the account. How many "free" accounts are they giving away while cracking down on password sharing?

CFO guidance has been warning Wall Street every year that subscriptions ebb and flow seasonally.

ok....I guess. Are they talking worldwide, including the Hotstar accounts that don't pay very much?

I mean, if it's all about profitability and not subscriber count, then those subs, if from the Asian market, aren't contributing very much to that bottom line.

Their recent guidance is 5.5-6M in Core D+ growth for the next quarter. So USA/Canada and International (not Hotstar which is Asia)

They absolutely think that they’ll get an influx of subs once the gps locks on passwords go on

You know…andor season 2 😳

Does anybody know a violin shop that sells incredibly tiny violins suitable for an audience of Peltz and Musk?
The investor "high" will wear off quickly. This was not the gangbusters quarter some are making it out to be, and certainly is not indicative of the course correction investors wish to see for long-term success.

Don't get me wrong - they won this battle, but the war between them and Peltz/Blackwell is far from over.

#2. Taylor Swift - Seems positive for D+ at least short term. May stem off some subscriber loss.

I haven't read the entire thread, so this may have been brought up, but this is a BIG deal for Disney+. Yes, it may result in a short-term bump, but long term it shows Disney's commitment to spend on top-dollar content, while also showing Disney+ as a preferred option for the A-listers. Disney's strength in the streaming realm isn't going to be thru the netflix path (qty versus qlty), but rather in leveraging their hollywood connections.

Disney could really do with a studio like Sony partnering for their content on Disney+ long term.

They need content made by other studios

They own billions in stock and were in a proxy fight in order to get the stock price up, they are some of the biggest winners in all of this.

The question is will they dump a bunch of stock and walk away before the price goes back down or do they hold on to their stock and continue fighting Disney?

The engagement from the Taylor Swift socials is huge already. This is a version of the tour that has NOT been released anywhere else. In full, from beginning to end. Not the theatrical version, not the VOD version.

IG itself is already at 1.1 million likes.

In case anyone is tracking.

Taylor’s IG post is up to 6.4 million likes, the TaylorNation tweet has been viewed 4.1 million times.

I am not an Edward Lewis type but I don't think you can just dump a significant share (or whatever you qualify a "bunch" as) of 3 billion dollars of stock "before the price goes back down".

Trian thought that this quarter was the time to make a move with the help of that grifter Musk pushing the lawsuit. Let's face it, it's a huge blow. I think they will take their licks and come back later.. or never. Even the Anti-Woke Champion Desantis famously backed down from Disney eventually.

While Musk isn't, Peltz is smart enough to take a strategic L.
Are you ok ?

This is a huge victory.

Peltz wins no matter what.

Iger drives stock higher Peltz wins.

Iger fails Peltz gets board seats, Peltz wins.

People aren’t going to the movie theater anymore. Just look at the numbers.

Yup that's my underlying point. They need to figure out A) the movies they do send to the theatres - how do they maximize the buts in the seat vs cost of production/marketing. B) Find other sources of income to make up for the loss at the box office.

People are still going, they just aren't going as often - See: Mario and Avatar 2

Also see the Eras Tour numbers. Had it not done what it did in the theaters, I don't think Bob would have been so excited to announce it coming to D+.

I think they need to go back to what worked in the past but update it for today's model.

It goes the theatres for the first month or so, then it becomes pay per view on streaming for the next 6 to 8 months. A year later it's free with streaming.
