Hi all, I've loved Disney all my life and would love to work there maybe seasonally. But after reading through these threads I'm really discouraged. There are so many negative experiences. It really kills my Disney buzz. :(

So, who here is a current or former CM and had a positive experience/ nice managers working for Disney?

I would not use a one's positive of negative to solely eliminate the option of working there. Multiple personalities, work ethics, and spending habits will determine how someone enjoys their experience as a Cast Member. Ten people with a horrible work ethic and junk spending habits will berate their experience because that is who they are. A person who understands work is going to do just the opposite of that. This boils down to what YOU want to do and only you. Using a forum to change your mind is not the wisest of options to make a life change in regards to employment.

I'm a former CP, and I had a blast. My coworkers were great, managers were cool. Not every day was a fairy tale, but it was a great experience that widened my social circle, improved my people skills, and expanded my view of the world. (You will meet people from literally everywhere if you spend enough time at Disney.) Frankly, there were some days I questioned why I was there, but really, that's no reason not to do something. Every experience has its trying moments. If you want to do it, go for it. It's not a marriage after all. Another thing to remember is it's a huge property. If you don't click with someone at one location, scout out different opportunities within the resort.

Current CM and I love my job. Yes, some days you have bad experiences but it comes with the job. I love what I do and if you love Disney, you will love working at Disney!

I recently self-termed from doing the CP. Like within the past week. I think the main reason I self-termed was because I could not get back one thing; homesickness. Now that I am back home I am 1,000% regretting self-terming. I know that your places on no hire or restricted hire status once you self-term. My problem is my whole reason for doing the CP was because it was my Dream to work for Disney. I'm really at a "fork in the road" kind of point.... try to move on to another dream or try to find a steady job for 6 months and try to reapply for another role with Disney in the next few years. Any suggestions?

My frat brother was elated to do the CP and he got placed to clean the bathrooms. He absolutely hated it, the experience and the attidudes of guests.

I really loved my time as a CM. Since it was in the new Tomorrowland everything felt fresh, new, and even the CM's were all new. It was such a fun time and I wish everyone would have the same experiences!

I as well have been interested in auditioning as a CM and have been trolling boards like this, watching youtube videos made by current/former/hopeful CMs, and talking with these people as much as possible trying to get an idea of what life working for the Mouse must be like. I heard of alot of great experiences and alot of bad ones. I think the biggest problem with hopefuls like us is that people are really genuinely shocked to learn that working in the theme parks isn't all the magic we believe it to be. At the end of the day, you have to remember that working at the parks is still a job like any other. The payout may not be what you're expecting or what you think you deserve for your labors and you're gonna have to deal with difficult people. But that's any service job! If working in the parks is your dream and passion...GO FOR IT :)
