My family is visiting for Thanksgiving, can they just book the hotel right now and then have the discount applied after I finish Traditions?

You usually can do your old role. But this summer, they are only doing custodial and QSFB unfortunately.

jeeze if they did that to me, I would just go in as seasonal.

Which may be fine and dandy for you, but many people that come down for the summer program need housing. Something a seasonal CM won't get from WDW.
