Discount after I booked - What are my options?

I booked my trip 10/13/2012 - 10/20/2012 back in April so I'd have the 180 ADR window and get all the reservations I wanted. This was all well and good until this morning when I read another post on here about someone that booked.

I looked around and found : http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/ (which I never knew of before)

Apparently there is now a 30% discount for most of the time I'm there and 25% for the other day. When I was looking at the availability online the chat specialist window popped up and I was advised to call reservations. When I called reservations I was told there was nothing that could be done. She (the reservation person) also claimed there were no rooms available at the resort despite the website claiming otherwise.

Normally I don't get too hot over something like this - but the savings I'm missing out on is quite significant. (7 days at Beach Club + Food & Dining) That's a few Disney Dollars right there.

Any ideas on what I can do? At this point I'd probably be happy if they even upgraded me from garden-view to club level and kept their $$

I'd call back and ask for a manager if the first person can't help you.
Bear in mind though that there are a limited number of rooms set aside for these discounts, so it is possibnle that there are none available.

Call again. If there is nothing at all at your resort of choice, ask about others [unless you're adamant about staying at that particular resort]. Boardwalk or Yacht are both very nice too... ;)

I thought that too - but I just went back to the site and went through the whole stage of booking the whole trip sans entering in credit-card/financial info and the room was available.

I'll try calling back after lunch. If my blood sugar drops I'll get grumpy and that won't help my cause.

I just checked and only pool/lagoon view is available at beach club during your dates with the fall discount, so maybe the CM was only checking your specific room type? As others have said, they only set aside a certain number of rooms at each resort for each discount, so you might need to be flexible on changing either room type or completely changing resorts in order to get a better deal.

Call back and try again. I hope you get it sorted out!

Thanks! Yea - that's probably what they saw too. But then again you'd think hey , if you take 30% off the trip and then put them in pool/lagoon view it's still cheaper than the garden view they took because they wanted to save money.

Does anyone know if my having a Platinum Plan is mucking up the works by any chance? I'm not sure how that falls in line with the rest....The reason I did the platinum was for the food/golfing/tours/circ-de-awesome/etc.

Silly me, I had no idea what KK was until I started posting on this site. Fool me once - shame on - you're not fooling me again!

I used them this July for honeymoon...

1.) saved me a ton of money... because I had AAA and AP discounts to work with, they simply got me the best deal.
2.) they updated my trip a few times so score me both a room upgrade and a discount
3.) they sent us a really nice gift to my room for our honeymoon

I'll never book a plan again myself

Some CMs will only check whatever you ask them, and some will offer up new options for you. Just depends on who you get, so don't hesitate to call back and ask lots of questions.

I did a little investigating and the Platinum Plan may very well be the problem. There wasn't the option to add it on to the room discount like it is for packages. And when I looked at the official brochure it states On the bottom of the first page, "Disney Platinum Plan is not Valid with any other offer."

Fudge! I was hoping that wasn't the case - maybe I'll get lucky and catch a CM in a good mood and they will find a way to remedy the situation.

Thank you for that info

The Platinum package is indeed your problem. I do not know of a way to add it onto a promotion as it is in a category by itself and not an option like dining or tickets. This is where you are going to have to take a look at your trip and exactly how you are going to make use of the Platinum package. If you are using a number of features of the Platinum package you might be better off sticking with it. If you only plan on doing say the spa treatment and a single tour it might be worth it to forgo it.

Viewings - EP Illuminations
Fantasmic! Viewing
Keys to the Kingdom Tour
Backstage Safari Tour
Cirque Du Soleil
Muscles and Bustles Health Club (Spa Treatment)
ADRs out the wazoo

My guess, from what you're saying - I should just suck it up and be happy with what I got. Figured it was worth discussing and seeing what my options were.

Thank you!

Not necessarily. Add up the cost of those things and add it to the discounted promotion (probably with deluxe dining to cover the wazoo full of ADRs) and see which is less. If it is less to do the Platinum package stick with it. If not look at changing it providing that you do not have to cancel all of your special events to do so. Even if you do have to cancel some or all of them (you should not have to redo your dining) it might not be impossible to re-book them.

My honeymoon is next July and this is the first trip I have booked with a travel agent. Its definitely the way to go, especially using an agent that specializes in Disney.

Called back - the lady on the phone was a lot more helpful. Explained the whole platinum lockout issue and then talked me through the prices of what would happen if I wanted to switch to the different rooms, dining plan, book the things individually, etc (plus the cancellation fee since it's less than 45 days out)

It was refreshing to talk to someone on the phone that was polite , friendly and informative of many things. While I didn't get any type of discount - I'm more than happy with the help the CM provided.

If every CM had that attitude the park would be getting 100% satisfaction on every call.
