DisBoards & WDWMagic ... any connection?

Hi - just wondering if there is any connection between these two boards. I tried to register on DISBoards with the same user name and was told there was already a member with my name! Could be just a coincidence.

Also - the boards have alot in common in appearance too.

that just means someone has registered the same username as you the one you use here

the reason for the common appearance is that they both use software called vBulletin to run the boards

The Disboards have close to 50,000 members...any username containing anything wdw or disney has probably been used.

Yes, we are two completely different groups. Some people here have had good experiences with certain members there, some have had bad ones. There are some people who belong to both. A word of advice, if you want to keep the peace, is to leave what is said there, there...and what is said here, here.

This woman speaks the truth.

I remember last year that little situation with the Community Board over there. Some people (like me) actually registered on this board after all of this.

For reasons that I will not reveal here, I gradually stopped posting there. While the DIS has an incredibly huge userbase, to say it nicely, that has its ups and downs. Much like a city that rises in population, you get that as well.

I don't want to start any drama, but that is all I'm saying.

The Dis is bigger but not better!

It is very much a shopping experience! Sometimes Walmart is the best and sometimes Kmart or Target does the trick. Same thing is true on the various Disney boards. There is not a definitive source for information in this regard. You have to shop around and judge the results for yourself. This site has a lot of good information about WDW but is devoid of other good information about WDW. Shop 'till you drop!

Because of their huge size, the Disboard is a good source for very specific information. If I need to know which restaurant serves special meals for people with allergies, or how to arrange for one, that would be the place to go. (that was just an example) They have very specific forums for people with disabilities, cruise lines, DVCs, etc that have several dozen people posting daily.

I prefer this forum for my day to day interaction with people I know...and generally like. Also, sometimes there's just TOO much to wade through over there...and if I need little spats, there's more than enough going on here!
