Disappointment!

First let me explain a little, I have been going to the Walt Disney World Resort for 36 years visiting 3 to 8 times a year. I have seen it all, I have been to the opening of ever park from EPCOT Center to Animal Kingdom. I have stayed at just about all the resorts. I am always the first one to defend Disney when every needed. But I will have to say as much as I don't want to be a pessimist I am very disappointed in the resent expansion news to Fantasy Land and lack luster refurbishment to Space Mountain, as Disney's California Adventure is receiving a 1billion dollar refurbishment for a park that will not better its numbers no matter how much is put in to it.

I do believe the upgrade to Fantasy Land was needed, we all know the Q at Dumbo can reach 60 to 90 min wait times, and having two Dumbos will ease that pain and Mickeys Toon Town was to small for the crowd levels that formed there so placing a fairy garden and extra Castles for the remaining princess and villains will be a nice retreat from the heat. I will agree with the rest that the addition of Gastons was a needed evil and adding a new Little Mermaid ride or any new ride to the Magic Kingdom can always help. But the most disappointing is the refurbishment to Space Mountain. I hope that the HP addition to universal is a great success sparking a fire under Disneys butt to make upgrades where they are really needed. Animal Kingdom could have used a new Land or the addition of more attractions to the existing lands. Or maybe the addition of a new country to EPCOT or even redoing JII. I could go on, just my opinions and views I am sure some will agree and some will bash. Can't wait for my upcoming trips as i always enjoyed watching the parks evolve at lease we will get new ride vehicles for space and a new forest and restaurant.

Can't say I agree with you, but I understand where you're coming from.

I think it's a great, great step forward, and hope that with positive feedback they will continue to see improvement and expansion as a standard for doing business. Every year at D23...maybe we will here more...next year Epcot...

In a way I agree. I would of loved to have seen more go into AK, but thats because I see so much potential in this park. But I do love the new expansion and the new E-ticket. I think it will bring so much to the park and I am Pumped.

Yea...can't agree with ya here. The new DCA additions will draw people far and wide.

But the most disappointing is the refurbishment to Space Mountain.

Agreed.

As a MK CM, Fantasyland was desperately needed. The park could barely handle it's attendance.

On a side note: HP will blow people away.

Give it time. This is just the first step.

Just like their new coaster did? Doesn't look much like the concept art they originally put out.

I'm sure we'll see much the same with HP.

The Sentinel put out a recent article detailing the budget of being around $200 million for the entire project. Doesn't sound much for what they are hyping.

I think that the MK expansion was needed the most. It is a park with major capacity issues and I am happy about the expansion. Epcot has gotten major new projects the last decade (Test Track, Mission Space, and Soarin'). I think we could still see a refurb of Imagination over the next few years which shouldn't cost that much to do.

Animal Kingdom and DHS both have issues though. Animal Kingdom is a huge park in terms of size but there isn't enough to do which makes it still an "8-hour park." DHS has major capacity issues because there isn't enough for families to do and it needs a major land expansion. It has some of the best attractions in the World (and you could put DAK in this category as well) but there are not enough smaller rides that are people eaters.

New coaster seems to be getting decent feed back from the paying public  despite the issues with Qs etc. Maybe they havent seen the art work.

Im not a fan of HP, so much of the hype will no doubt be lost on me, but the same attitude applies here as to the FL expansion, if ride or attraction experience is only average, then all they eye candy in the world is wasted. But like FL additional attractions are better than replacements, and chances are HP will be of a design aimed at those who are out of primary school.

You are way off in thinking that the new DCA won't attract more people.

I would like to correct what I said in my first outburst, after reading many post on SM it appears we will not be receiving new ride vehicles. So other then a new Q, load and unload area we get nothing! O well.

SirGoofy, I agree with you FL was coward, sometimes so bad you couldn't move between Peter Pan and Small World.

Figment632, you may be right but I don't see it making much of a difference for attendance.

Well said. I don't see why some people complain about Epcot needing new attractions and refurbs. Sure, it couldn't hurt, but MK is needing it more than anything right now. I think Epcot will be alright for a little while.;)

Maybe these will be announced at next years D23 expo?
