Disable Passes Being Sold On Ebay

This is horrible. When we go with my mother who has trouble breathing and walking long distances, we need to use a scooter for her, but I don't use the GAC card because I can get FP's when we are there and use them. This works fine for us because I know how to use the FP system. This way we leave the GAC for people who really need them.

they took the item down.
No they didn't.

If they had, you couldn't access the auction at all. It would show up as an invalid number.

The seller ended it on their own. Whether or not Disney had anything to do as far as persuading the seller to pull the auction is debatable, but the fact remains that Ebay did not pull the auction.

does it really matter how the auction ended? sorry i didn't phrase my original post quite correct but the fact remains the auction ended.

The seller ended the auction, but it dosent mean that he didnt sell it. He could have struck a deal thru email without a winning bid. It happens all day, every day. 50% of the fastpass auctions on Ebay are fakes. I know, I am a victim.

OF COURSE it matters in this case. :brick:

If ebay ended the auction, it would mean sales like this aren't allowed, and they're working to curb them. If the seller ended the auction, it probably means he sold the thing... Which does nothing to prevent it from happening again.

I dont see a difference in this and a person getting to cut in line because they are too fat to wait, or a rich person/celebrity getting special treatment.

Ebay is natorious for not policing itself and allowing people to sell just about anything and everything, wheather it is legal or not. I remember with the release of her last two books JK Rowlling had a big fight with them because people were selling "autographed" copies of her book that had clearly forged signatures. Also, people were selling unauthorized Harry Potter "ebooks".

You would think Ebay would protect the buyer over the seller in these types of cases, but they don't. Ebay tends to take the stance that they are just hosting and have nothing to do with the content.

ok, i am confused as to what you are taking about...

the GAC is for invisible disabilities, not "fat" people or "rich people getting special treatment" so i guess i am confused as to what you mean..

Exactly. The scooter is for overweight people that want special treatment. And yes I know not everyone who uses a scooter is fat! Just the obnoxious ones.

well, you're right not everyone who uses a scooter is fat (in fact, most are not), and i met two very skinny very obnoxious people in scooters, so i dont think scooters, weight, and attitude are necessarily linked.

however, what special treatment do you think people with scooters get? just out of curiousity... I use a wheelchair at disney, and i have yet to see anything that constitutes "special treatment."

Tink- I think any treatment that disney bestows on someone beause they have a genuine disability is appropriate, not special. So lets leave it at that.

Im saying there's plenty of people that get to cut in line for b.s. reasons so who cares if people buy passes on ebay

Well, my thought about this. I am a seller on Ebay (antiques and glassware) and I know the system fairly well. EBAY really can't "police" every auction. There are just too many. They do try..they put programs in the system to prevent key word spamming. They will pull auctions for known fakes and repro's being sold (antiques/Coach, Prada, etc.) when they are reported. Selling invalid passes from Disney is just probably something that has not hit their "priority" list yet. I think DISNEY should be the ones that are policing this. All they would have to do is hire staff where there only job was to police these sites, buy the items, get their names and addresses and press charges or fire employees if it is an inside job. I remember a while back...someone was stealing from a Victoria's Secret and listing everything on Ebay....well, VS, bought the items back and pressed charges against the seller.

Hopefully the person gets caught and something serious happens...otherwise they will just re-list under a new seller ID and keep doing it.

Some people just have NO morals and NO ethics. :(

This bothers people because this particular pass is NOT a cut in line pass and the CM's tell you that. It is for a genuine disability or for the make a wish children. My son is autistic and I'd give up every pass, my left arm, you name it...if I could in fact know that he was going to lead a normal life. The pass is for individuals like my son. He has to stay in his stroller until we go to get on the ride. When he was 2, he tried to rip down the access gates at Dumbo, shook them violently, screamed. Too many people in a close proximity to him will lead to a full blown melt down. He looks normal....he gets this becasue you cannot tell by looking at him that he is disabled.

My son is in a pre-school autistic class, goes to school year round so he won't forget skills he has learned. He has intensive speech, occupational, and physical therapy. The karate school he goes to made a special needs class just for him and his friend so they can participate. Every time he is with children his own age, it kills me. I never really notice how different he is until then. Disney is the only place that truly cares that these kids have a good time and cares enought to alleviate some of the stresses that a disability can put on a family.

This jerk on ebay gets another JERK to buy it. If someone DID buy it, I'll let their child have the autism and I will gladly wait in a 45 minute line with a "normal" child. So, in essence, people care because the have the sense as to what is right and what is just wrong. Not all of us can be celebrities...not all of us can be normal.

And trust me....the wait for the guests in wheelchairs is NOT as short as you may think and they are treated no differently than anyone else.

The person selling the pass is probably one of those people that collect disability and are faking a disability. I hope they get caught for it.

Thanks all, I have vented and I feel better...this thread was driving me nuts.

thank you!

a GAC does NOT let you skip lines. neither does a wheelchair. in fact, i usually wait LONGER with my wheelchair - i want in the regular line then i wait with the other wheelchairs in a special boarding area.

these days, except for Make a Wish kids, NO ONE gets a front of hte line pass, especially not wheelchairs, and a GAC does NOT get you to the front of hte line.
