Not sure how I feel about this one. I agree that once it was completed at DL it was probably inevitable that it happened at WDW. I'm going to miss the old style, but at the same time hope that the extended refurb will address the declining state of the ride....

I also wonder if this means IASW will be down every year for the holiday refits the same way the DL ride is....

Actually the timing more likely suggests that they will be doing it's a small world holiday. This is about the same amount of time that Disneyland needed the first year of it's a small world holiday. They may also choose to add the Disney Characters at the same time, but my bet is that the holiday version will show up this year as well. Which would work out great for us, as we are taking my family this year.

It is not a big deal nor a big change, I saw the changes in DL first hand and it wasn't much.

It doesn't take away from or add much to the ride

I really like the characters out in Disneyland. It adds much needed theming to specific areas in the ride. I'm not a huge fan of Stitch in the Hawaiian scene, but everything else goes pretty good. It took me a few runs through before noticing all of the characters, that's how well it all blends in.

If the refurb went into November, I'd say that it might be getting a Holiday overlay. However, with it currently scheduled for a re-opening of Oct 22nd, it wouldn't make much since as the Halloween parties will still be going on.

I do remember some months ago that there was some posts on a completely redesigned queue for IASW that will incorporate a new interactive element, along with the possibility of Disney characters being added. I'm thinking that will be the case.

The Little Mermaid sticks out like a sore thumb. It isn't really integrated at all. I thought the rest of the attraction was fine.

The Little Mermaid looks just like how Mary Blair would've designed a mermaid doll way back when.

Yea but it doesn't add anything to the ride.

It really was the strangest addition to a Disney ride I have ever seen. It was very subtle, I didn't mind it or like it

Agreed. It's in the style of Mary Blair, no doubt (though the Alice one is the best of them all, in my opinion)... however it's overly attention-grabbing. TO me the Nemo ones and the Lilo/Stitch ones are the real "sore thumbs" in terms of fitting in. Others, however, were seamlessly integrated. Mulan, for instance... it took me like 3 ride-thrus to even find her. Generally speaking, I'm OK with it, should it occur. It doesn't demean the attraction to me.

I would accept that trade off...but while DL is adding Holiday overlays...WDW seems only to be doing less. :(

Yes, but it is still a character encroachment and doesn't blend into the other scenes seamlessly like the others do. It is its own unecessary, dedicated scene. I thought the rest of the attraction was fine. This one was out of place.

Not a fan of the Disney doll and toy characters in "it's a small world" along with the music from the movies overlapping the "it's a small world" song.

^ they blend in really well with the other dolls.. and the music is actually quite subtle and doesn't overpower the main iasw song.

All of the characters fitted in pretty good imo. At first I wasnt sure I was going to like them, but since I never been to DL before last July, I guess I couldnt exacly hate it. I would have preferred it in WDW only and maybe HKDL, but its cool at DL.

Overall, IASW at DL was a breath of fresh air. WDW's version is nice, but the DL one is so much nicer.
