Great news for fans of Animal Kingdom's Dinosaur Attraction. I just went to DAK yesterday and was pleased to see that Dinosaur was open. The CM said they finished early on the work, so a "soft opening" is being held now until June 4, when the attraction was supposed to open. Nothing really noticible new other than they moved the location of the FP distributing Machines, and 1 machine (covered up when i was there) looked like it was built to serve the Visually Handicapped, and was lower to accomatiate Wheelchairs. The line has been reworked, and the stand by line now stretches past the old FP distributing location and around to a HUGE garden, and the inside is mostly the same. btw: is Dr. Marsh in the introduction the same actress who was the wife in the Cosby Show? (sorry off-topic) Anyway, the ride was like new, and becasue it was a soft opening and the bu8ilding is so far tucked away from the rest of Dinoland USA, We never waited longer than 5 min. That's good, considering Primeval Whirl was 40 min. and Kali was 80. I'll get pictures up as soon as i can.

By the Way, in case you were wondering:

That wonderful smell in the loading area is still there!!

Yes, Dr. Marsh is Phylicia Rashad who also played Clair Huxtable on the Cosby Show. Dr. Seeker is Wallace Langham who has been in lots of things as well, including "CSI" and an old show called "Veronica's Closet."

I can confirm the early opening of Dinosaur. I was in DAK also yesterday wandering around with DisneyTati and some other friends. We saw a bunch of stuff and we went ot get on Primevil Whirl and it broke as we were half way up the lift hill. The CM who came to rescue us gave us all a fast pass for Dinosaur. Everyone but me rode as I Am not too fond of stuff popping out at me in the dark!!! Everyone thought it looked great!!! Belle

You should get used to things popping out at you. I mean, Everest will have that, Stitch will be in the dark, Universal's Mummy, I mean... there's a lot that you're missing. :(

oh dont get me wrong I have gone on Dinosaur several times. It just isnt my thing personally. I saw EE yesterday while i was wandering around Animal Kingdom. It was amazing!!!!! I will almost certainly ride that. As far as Stitch, I never liked Alien Encounter much. I went on that once and once only!!! Again, no disrespect to those who loved it. It was a great attraction with an amazing story and very well done. Too well for me so I chose not to experience it again!!! Once was quite enough for me thanks!!!
As far as Mummy, I have been to Universal once ( Studios side only) and I wasnt terribly blown away. Id probably do Islands of Adventure as I never have been there, but I cant imagine it would rival Disney for me.
Just my humble opinion!!! Belle

For those who get a chance to ride it soon, can you let us know if the following things were fixed?:

1) The first door that opens as you enter the strobe effect for time travel (they are large silver doors...for a while before the rehab they were permanently open)).

2) Does the dino that is being eaten again look to enter the larger dinosaur's mouth (recently the little dino didn't seem to drop down into his mouth anymore as before).

3) The lighting. I noted a while back that it seemed like they increased the amount of dark lights...so much that it became easy to see things way in front of you before you ever reach them...such as the one carnotauras and an entrance to, I imagine, the maintenance bay. This was primarily in the first 1/2 of the ride (last half was still really dark).

4) The swooping pteradactyl. For a long time, he hasn't moved. So much that I actually don't remember him ever moving...but I've been told he did.

That's about all I can think of now. Thanks in advance :)

She's in Anger Management, too, isn't she? And didn't she recently die?

I was at DAK today, and I can answer a couple of these. This was my first time riding Dinosaur so I can't compare it to what it was before!
1) The doors at the beginning did work. Reminded me of the end of testtrack

2)I saw the little dino being eaten, but not totally sure what you mean.

3)Again, I can't compare to before. I was sitting in the front row, and only once can I remember seeing the track for a second. Then again, I wasn't paying a lot of attention to it.

4) Don't remember if he moved. His eyes lit up and moved. I think he did, but I can't say for certain.

The sound system was majorly changed! Dialogue is much louder now. Some, if not all, of the dialogue has been re-recorded. One minor change in wording I noticed. The old line "Four wheel drive! Kick it!" is now "Four wheel drive! Move it!"

Something else seems different about the ride. Maybe there was more lighting? Maybe less? Maybe it was a rougher ride? Maybe smooth? I don't know. Perhaps it's all in my head...... or the effects aren't at 100% yet from the rehab.:veryconfu

Went on it today, the ride seemed a little bit rougher and it seemed like in some parts around corners it fealt like it was fishtailing, but it was the first time in a long while we sat in the back seat so that may have been the difference. Doors were definitly working, and the dino seemed to be eaten. The black lights were put in a few months back and you can see a lot more of the ride than you could in years back. The swooping thing (it's too late to try to spell it) was not swooping at all, just light up and said "incomming" nothing more. the only other difference I noticed, though maybe they were there in the past, was that at the loading station there were flashing lights that are above the left sides loading area, possibly as an alert the ride is being backed up because they were solid then started flashing after a certain period of time that no cars moved forward. Also there was a safety message before the ride started in english and spanish.

I rode this past monday. It is only the 3rd time I have been on Dinosaur, the previous was over 1 year ago, and the first was when it was still Countdown to Extinction. The last time was the first time I really enjoyed the ride. The first two times, the ride didn't really do anything for me. This last time, it was actually pretty cool.

Well I'm here at Innoventions typing this up and I'll be home tomorrow for a better report.

I must say that Dinosaur does seem to be faster and rougher than before (This could all be mental but it just seems that way to me). I do not get the line change from "Kick It" to "Move It". Is there any reasoning behind this?

Be back soon.
