Dinosaur has seen better days

Did Disney look at all the people complaining about Dino-Rama and think ALL of Dinoland USA was disliked? Or did The Good Dinosaur's underperforming convince them that people don't like dinosaurs anymore or something?
They had guest surveys done about attractions a few months ago...and those surveys always word things in a tricky way. But I'm sure parents have complained about the ride being scary, or not rating it high because of its maintenance struggles...

But they know the public loves dinosaurs, because dinosaurs make Universal a lot of money. This looks more to me like giving up, which is truly a pity - with what we've learned in the past few decades about how dinosaurs actually looked (more colorful, feathers, etc.), WDI could improve on the AAs and education while Universal continues with their genetically-modified creatures.

Yeah, remember there was some kind of tent there before they replaced that with the carnival. I think it might have still been part of the Chester and Hester's storyline but it's been a long time since I have thought of any of this and this is going by memory.
That was the Dinosaur Jubilee. It was one of those enclosed tent buildings that housed a lot of skeletons of dinosaurs and information about prehistoric life. Next door was a small building that had a Paleontology work lab with a Paleontologist explaining how they excavate and clean bones for preservation. The whole area was temporary since that's where the Excavator coaster was going to be, but IMO a much better use than the Chester and Hester part we eventually got.

Completely agree. Dino-Rama was honestly built just for marketing, since many people early on complained about the lack of rides and it gave them something new to push a few years after the park opened. A knee jerk reaction that wasn't really thought-out that much. I think Dinoland would have been appreciated more long term without those "additions". They really cheapened the whole land.

Still, Disney is grossly underestimating the popularity of dinosaurs. If they put investment into what's already there by enhancing it, amplifying it even, without clutching to their most recent animated hits, they'd find out that people love the overall concept of dinosaurs and paleontology in general.

If Disney insists on adding more IP to the park, DAK has plenty of expansion space. Time to use it!

I didn't know this existed. They absolutely should have kept this -- just put it in a permanent building.

I am of the apparently unpopular opinion that dinoland is great, at least as an idea. It really captures the vibe of the Badlands/rt66/American West and what kid doesn't like dinosaurs? That said the old coaster was terrible, dinosaur was filthy dirty when I was on it in August with grime cakes on every surface that was out of reach , and Disney could do a lot better withe the county fair area. With a coaster replacement and a little effort it could be a great area again. I think a dinocoaster of the scale of goofy coaster in MK would be great. AK lacks short wait little kid rides as is and a dino coaster would compliment triceratops spin. But the overall theme and the dino play area are great in my opinion. But I also have a dinosaur obsessed kindergartener...

I say get rid of dinosaur, nemo, and everything in that area then make a new indiana jones area. We got africa, india, and nepal so exotic locales is not a hard change up already. Besides people have wanted an indiana jones ride for decades. It might even be a future spot for placing in a replacement for the indiana jones stunt spectacular if disney decides its time to remove that from hollywood studios.

McDonald's sponsored a kiosk where a paleontologist was working on 'Sue' before her ultimate destination in Chicago at the Field Museum. I *think* the building is still there but it's been a while since I thought about caring to look.

Disney needs to get Jon Favreau on speed dial to make a new dinosaur land. Call it... I don't know...
Prehistoric Planet? Get Apple to sponsor it or something.
Turn Dinosaur into a more peaceful trip where you get to see beautiful, and mostly accurate AA dinosaurs. Come face to face with the weird, but charming Deinocheirus

See feathered Velociraptors trying to stalk their prey

And finally, see the most fearsome predator to walk the Earth, T.rex

Unlike it's Universal brother, this one is not chasing you, or trying to eat you, but observing you with his chicks, as the sun sets, and the Attenborough narration soothes you...

Ah, why do that when we can cram in two films that have no business being in AK?

I like it but why does Dinosaur need to be replaced? Getting rid of a unique and incredible thrill ride for a gentle ride is counter productive. Just build this new ride in the Chester and Hester spot and renovate Dinosaur back into Countdown to Extinction. Everyone wins!

I’ve never understood why they don’t update the pre show video content on rides that feature it. I’ve often heard this cited as a benefit of video screens on a ride (“Updating it will be as easy as shooting new video!”), but it seems so rarely done.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Claire Huxtable. But an update to the preshow would help freshen up Dinosaur.

Absolutely Not! Indiana Jones for DHS or bust.
