This is an absolute freaking joke.

There should be no one that defends $140/70 for a normal buffet with very little plusing and a normal (???) Wishes show at 8:30 pm.

Other than families (and I can't see any of them paying this amount), who wants to celebrate NYE at 8:30 at that price tag?

The money hungry pigs at Disney should be ashamed.

No need for anybody to defend it. Just see if anybody buys it. I suspect they will.

Yeah the price point is really high for this, but if there is one thing on New Year's Eve that is a premium, it's space. Perhaps that is what they are banking on?

It will sell out, no doubt about it.

Because some folks are nuts. Some folks have way too much money and credit. And some folks will realize if they book this and MK closes for capacity, which is almost a certainty, they will be able to get in there (without arriving at 8 a.m. and staying all day) even if it's a Phase 678 closing.

Disney knows this too.

Surprised it took this many years for them to offer something like this.

Another price gouging food-related "party." I don't know whats worse: the fact that Disney will charge $140 for a simple buffet dinner or the fact that there are people out there who will actually pay the $140. :dazzle:

Interesting train of thought. It makes quite a bit of sense that you aren't buying a catered buffet but the privilage to enter an at capacity park and only deal with crowds for 4-5 hours prior to New Years.

Suddenly $140 doesn't seem that bad...for other people to buy. Not me.

Not sure that it will guarantee entry to the park with a phased closing - "You should know that Park tickets are required for the parties and it’s probably best to arrive as early as possible."

That could mean that they just want you there spending even more money, but who knows.

Trying to get this posted.

Thomas, does having a ticket to either event guarantee entry into the park even if it is at a hard close with no one else admitted due to capacity?

The way it sounds by arriving early it doesn’t or you could just be implying to come, enjoy and spend more money.

But, you are spending $100 per adult for the buffet and 2nd class fireworks (Wishes on NYE) when you could get the 2nd party (apparently lasting through midnight fireworks and NYE) without the buffet.

I was going to say, if the 9:50 one guarantees admission at any point in the late afternoon/early evening (not to mention at least a tightly packed place to stand to watch fireworks), it might not be that ridiculous. Don't they get $22 for essentially the same thing in the off-season? $14 for guaranteed admission without fighting the crowds all day it seems within the limits of "Disney normal." However, I agree $140 for a buffet seems insane.

Oh, I'm not saying it is a good idea or even well thought out, just that the price seems more "reasonable" (heavy, heavy quotations there) if you are gauranteed admission.

I was informed that the Fantasy in the Sky dessert party was at 10:50 pm and the reservation confirmation online stated 10:50.
I would also like to know if this guarantees admission as the main point is to not have to spend all afternoon planning for the fireworks.

Good point but the crowds didn't see to bother me last year hopefully it will be the same this year.

I think they are just banking on banking some money.

Whoever invented this price should really be kicked in the head.

Simply outrageous:fork:, but there will be people who have no problem dropping this kind of money on a buffet and regular viewing of Wishes from a location with not the best views. There is going to be a point in time when people are really going to get fed up with the Disney gouging tactics and decreased value of what they are paying for. Part of me can't wait for that to happen.

I think they are banking on folks thinking it will give them priority seating and viewing for the NYE fireworks.

However, we know that the dinner is during WISHES at 830, whereas Fantasy in the Sky is the NYE Show at midnight!

I bet there will be dissappointed customers. Do your research/planning!!

$140 + price of admission.

So closer to $240/adult.

The menu does seem a step above their normal buffets, but thats no excuse for the cost. Isn't that on par with chef's table at V&A's?
