Dining with characters is done

Hi guys,
I have a reservation for August 16th. I have checked my reservation and my Disney Dining Plan has been cancelled. In fact, the price of the reservation has been reduced. Additionally, all my dining reservations have been dropped out. I would like to know if I have Disney Dining Plan when I make my dining reservations again, that is, 60 days prior to my arrival.
Thank you so much for your help and I am looking forward to reading your comments soon.
Best regards,

There’s other threads on that but the dining plan is suspended until at least the end of the year

Why not have it before the meal I mean the characters line up behind the guest the guest are 6 feet in front of the barrier and the characters pictures get snapped. have a movie theater barrier in front of the characters and they get escort in by the handlers than the photos get done digital to people bands on the way out. Same with princesses. each princess has its own matching color face mask that matches the Disney princess outfits. like with lettering for example Cinderella is Blue usually so on the mask it's blue with Cinderella. Pink auroa. yellow snow white. The words are there to help indentfy the princess of the day and each princess has a team point system. that are led boards over the parks. as a game who supports each princess by wearing a mask there will be random counts and team cast members seeing people wearing masks pass out tickets for fast passes or tickets for free food or something. It helps encourage safe social distance.

I hope with no characters Disney can focus on serving good food at these places for once. Its sad people will pay high prices just cause characters are there and not cause the food is good. From everything I have heard most character dining has crappy food. They call it Hollywood and Slime for a reason.

First part of your question, Universal is already doing that strategy with fur/fully costumed characters and most likely Disney will too. Face characters like princesses won't wear any mask as evidenced by what Shanghai Disneyland did. What they do is like they all appear in one place and greet guests with a significant distance.

It all can change depending on what works and don't cause meet and greets are very very integral and important in a Disney trip, more so than other parks. I can skip meeting the Simpsons, Shrek or the Minions at Universal but I can't skip Mickey Mouse cause you just can't LOL!

Character dining has always been meeting/interacting with characters first and food is second. Characters can spend more time in each table or even come back multiple times than a regular meet and greet where you can't take too long cause there are others waiting for their turn. I know people who goes to character dining JUST for the characters and not really the buffet.

Since they don't have characters anymore, they should reduce the price to a regular buffet but I doubt the food will be good cause it's a buffet after all.

I think we should bring back the severely underused movie quote.
" Be excellent to each other"
LOL. I had to go back to the title of this thread to figure out what the original topic was after reading all the China stuff. As mentioned Universal is bringing out characters (at a significant distance), and still having what looks like small "parades" with one or two floats. It's just not the same. I was watching a news clip on WESH Channel 4 Orlando, with guests taking a selfie with Hello Kitty (I think?), but the character was like 20 feet away from the photo spot.

That sounds miserable

I just wish they would release what restaurants (quick service and table service) will be available in MK and DAK during the initial opening. I don't care about reservations right now, just want a list.

Yea, I wouldn't count on the food changing at all. If anything, I can see them lowering the quality to make up some profit lost because of lower volume.

They probably don't know yet. They are moving through all these decisions in waves as they get closer to the park opening. And what non-reservations restaurants they'll open when the parks open in over a month are likely pretty far down the list. They have lots and lots more details of things including park admission reservations, ticket sales (and re-assignments), resort reservations and a few thousand other things that are far more important to get sorted out than a list of what dining locations will be open in the parks.

Everyone needs to let go of their demand for "I want to know everything NOW". They don't know it now and therefore cannot tell you now.

Well, I go in about a month and would like some answers as others who are also going to be there. Unless this directly affects you, get off your entitlement soapbox and move on.

Sorry if that comes off as witchy, but I just shared a comment and don't need a lecture from someone who honestly doesn't have any knowledge regarding the subject other than conjecture and excuses.

Edited after realizing my irritability and harshness, and then realized I am still POed and failed miserably to be friendlier. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I can understand that the character meals can be annoying for adults but for a kid like me I love meeting the characters as much as possible. I also have two younger sisters who are 10 and 8 who also love them.
I’m almost 50 and one of my most favorite things to do is to have breakfast at Tusker House. I guess it would save me a ton of money. I’m starting to think what am I actually going for if I cannot have those types of things to look forward to? Where’s the Magic? What am I celebrating? I know it’s not important to everybody but I would think that to a lot of people it is very important. It’s very sad to think it could possibly be gone forever.
