Going in early March is a sesoned Disney-a-holic (21), a new comer (19), and an grandmother going for her first trip (75). All are picky eaters but will try about anything. We have the 200 gift card and will likely be eating a late lunch with snacks in between. Staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter with 8 day Park Hoppers. Looking for dinning suggestions.

Thanks,

There really are tons of places. Can you narrow it down a bit? Maybe by park or resort.

My families favorites are
Breakfast - Whispering Canyon, Kona & Chef Mickey's
Lunch - we usually do CS, but Sci Fi and Plaza are good
Dinner - Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Cape May, Ohana, Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's and Artist Point

DH's grandmother went at about age 73 or so and came home and raved about Chef Mickeys. Myself having been there probably 10 times or so, had never done CM. Since Gram went, we go every trip!

Some buffets might be good if you have different ages, tastes, etc. We've tried most, but our favorite is Chef Mickey's, followed by Crystal Palace.

Some other restaurants that all three generations of our family enjoys are Kona, Boma, Le Cellier, Teppan Edo, and 50s.

Honestly, $200 bucks wont last you two days in Disney, unless you do all counter services. If you want to eat at some of the better resturants, you should put that money towards the cost of all of you getting the dining plan.

I had thought about that but I was told I would not be able to use the 200 gift card toward the purchasing of the dinning plan. Can anyone varify this.

No you can't use the gift card to purchase the dining plan. Were you planning on using the $200 for food only? I know there is a stipulation on the Birthday Fun Card that says you can not use it towards the purchase of food. I do now know if this is on the $200 gift card. If it is a true gift card - then it can be used for food - like if you were to go to disney.com and get a gift card, you can use that for food.

If you can use the gift card for food, and are trying to use the $200 for food, it's not going to get you very far with 3 people. Even if you stick to buffets. You can assume they are on average $20 a person - some more, some less - depending on when you go. I love the 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace buffets. Donalds Bfast at AK is also a fun one.

That what I thought. But I am aware that 200 won't go very far but it will help. I do wish we could put it toward the Dinning Plan but oh well. Only 19 more days.

I've heard that the buffet at Fort Wilderness is the best bang for your buck! But it is a trek to get there!

Just to clarify for everyone, the $200 gift card cannot be used for the dining plan. You get the gift card at check-in. The dining plan must be added in advance and cannot be done on day of arrival or at the time of check-in.

You can however use it for meals at Disney owned and operated restaurants instead of paying with cash, room charge, or credit card. It is not accepted at all non-Disney owned and operated restaurants.

I don't know what exactly you are looking for, but here are my suggestions:

First, look at the menus on here and allearsnet.com, plus the reviews. This will give you a good idea of what they have.

I have a very picky eater in my family. Buffets work well as there is always something he will eat. Most places will also have stuff that isn't on the menu, like grilled cheese (toasted cheese on a bun at CS), plain pasta, french fries etc. You can always ask.

Now for our favorites (if you have a picky eater with you):

MK:
Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree Tavern (both lunch and dinner) for sit-down.
Starlight Cafe for CS

Epcot:
LeCellier (they have plain pasta!)
Ocktoberfest for most except for the boy who only likes pasta :)
Sunshine Seasons, lots of choices for CS

DHS
50's Prime Time Cafe for sit-down
We are trying Hollywood and Vine buffet for the first time in April so can't comment yet.
Really not thrilled with any CS here, sorry.

AK
Yak and Yeti was very good but not sure how a picky eater would do here.
We love Flame Tree BBQ and the kids always want to go to Pizzafari. The CS in Dinoland was a hit, too as it has burgers and grilled cheese. (can't remember name)

In Resorts:
Chef Mickey's is a fun buffet
1900 Park fare dinner was a huge hit with everyone, very good food
Any breakfast buffet in resorts or parks
Kona cafe for dinner at the Poly

Hope this helps! have a great trip

If you really would like the dining plan, then add it on now and use the gift card for souvenirs (sp). Of course, being this close to your check in, it's going to be tought to get ADRs. Maybe you could do the quick service plan.
