Dining Reservation Questions

Hello!

Long-time WDW visitor here. We have just booked our first ever trip to Disneyland Paris from March 1 - 4, 2024, staying at Sequoia Lodge. I know that on the app once we linked our package, it says we can book select restaurants 12 months out. We have a plan together of where we would like to book, but I have a few questions:

1) Will all restaurants be available to book 12 months out for on-site guests?
2) What time do these reservations usually go live? Want to be ready!

Thanks in advance!

Last time I did this I got my travel operator (disney holidays) to book rooms and restaurants for me at the same time and they could even before disney advertised for hotel guests (6 months, at the time).

I don't think it's possible like that anymore so I am in the same boat as you except I'm doing it next week (for Feb 18 2024) so will offer advice then!

Restaurants have been a nightmare in the past, however meal plans and walk ups have gone up a lot recently (things like character dining used to be a bargain compared to US parks, now less so) so I'm hoping demand will be less.

You’ll have a blast.

To begin with the “usual suspects” will be available to book first - normally Plaza Gardens, Captain Jacks, Remy. Maybe PYM. Maybe Walt’s. Probably a few hotel ones too. Then as opening times (and what restaurants will be open) are firmed up more will become available - but possibly a few months after the others.

Remy is popular. Downtown is amazingly popular (and rightly so). Remember as well you don’t need to reserve breakfast. Just turn up with one room key per room (but I’d recommend arriving at opening at 7am or soon after)

Sequoia is lovely too! Just remember some power strips as you call them. Additional power outlets (as I think you call then) were forgotten in the last refurb. Rooms only have 2 and one is behind the door.

Thank you so much! A few of the popular ones are on our list, so we will be ready. I have also heard about the outlet situation at Sequoia Lodge, so we will bring a power strip.

Is there a certain time (like the 6am ADR drop at WDW) we should be on the app?

From experience the availability goes live when they feel like clicking the “go” button !

Don't be surprised if restaurants don't open at your 12 month out date. I booked our trip for June 2023 in October 2022 and I wasn't able to start booking reservations for restaurants until December 2022. I was following a thread on the Dis boards about dining and many others were having that difficulty so we would all check everyday at different times and then all of a sudden most restaurants opened up. Pym's opened a few days later.

Also since you said you are a frequent WDW traveler I'm going to assume that you are located in the USA, if you need to call DLP for some reason you can call WDW and asked to be transferred to Disneyland Paris. That's how we avoided the international phone charges a few years ago.

I visited DLP in April last year, just as character dining was coming back. "Resevations open from 9am" they said. Well I went online at 9am and nothing, and then kept going back every half hour roughly for the next 10 days, occasional table were available but not for the 5 people i needed or the day i needed.

eventually got in auberge the day before my visit, and when we got there the place was 20% full.

I am fairly sure thar reservations for chez remy don't actually exist and the restaurant is full of actors eating the food.

Ok so I am 12 months out from my visit now, the apps "book now" button is now available when I go through my hotel bookings page.

So far only the disney village and disney hotel restaurants are available, plus captain Jack's, agrabah and pym. I booked Jack's for one lunch but had no interest in the others, I guess it's a game of continuous checking for me. As they sell meal plans with a character dining included, yet no availability when booking becomes available, I bet this drives a lot of unnecessary inbound calls.

I could book the day before and day after my visit too, e.g. I arrive Feb 18 and leave 20th but could book 17th and 21st too.

With a friend who happens to be in France, we booked a very last minute trip for next weekend a couple of weeks ago when most dining reservations were almost gone. With frequent checking, though, I did actually manage to snag a table at Remy's for a reasonable dinner time on Saturday night. So, you never know!

This happens with WDW too. Two weeks out from your trip they'll be nothing, but 1 week or less and suddenly there's plenty.

With DLP you can at least book some character meals from the outset when you do your room reservation.
