Downstairs is a drinks only lounge. Outside downstairs is "alfreso dining" aka food no one wants.

Upstairs is the real restaraunt.
Thanks--my wife found the menu a few days ago and said, “this looks good!” And I said, “it’s closed.” So I’ll try to get a resie and surprise her.

Anyone know if the drinks/tapas lounge will also open downstairs at Carthay? I imagine they'll use a virtual queue and won't take reservations, but I'd much prefer that to doing a full meal at the restaurant.

Has the River Belle table service dinner menu always been so limited? I seem to remember a larger menu? I remember a catch of the day and friend game hen. Maybe I’m crazy and remembering incorrectly. The menu just seems limited compared to Cafe Orleans and similar locations.

A lot of the restaurants have very limited menus right now with less offerings than usual. I think first priority was to get them open and then the menus will gradually expand again.

More reopening news -

All you explorers and adventurers will be thrilled to know Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar will start taking reservations for lunch AND dinner beginning Aug. 11, with the first reservation date Aug. 15. We all know it’s a real jungle out there, so be sure to book a reservation!

Carnation Café at Disneyland park, opening Sept. 16, is all about classic comfort food! Start your morning with Mickey waffles, and for lunch (and dinner!), enjoy some of Walt’s favorite chili or Chicken fried Chicken. Maybe find a new favorite like the Parmesan-crusted Patty Melt or the new Short Rib with homemade Mac and Cheese. For me? I can’t wait for the Fried Pickles!

Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures at Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa opens on Aug. 26, with booking available Aug.11.

Goofy’s Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel opens on Aug. 18, with booking available Aug. 11. Note: Goofy and Friends will not be hosting at the reopening. They will be returning on a later day – stay tuned.

Minnie & Friends for breakfast at Plaza Inn opens on Aug.12, with booking available Aug. 11.

Uh... then what's the point? Are there really that many people staying at DLH, that DON'T want to eat in the park, that need an option other than Tangaroa? That seems silly.

Much larger selection of food and don't want to go into DTD? Sam's/Tangaroa has pulled back their menu quite a bit. You can't even get regular french fries or a simple pizza in the hotel right now. Yeah, I get characters are important for this type of dining experience but I gotta believe people will be all over having the buffet available again.

Is it worth trying to get a reservation? Keep in mind I don’t drink but will have 3 teenagers with me.
If you're not going to drink, I wouldn't bother. The food is ok but you can get better in DTD. We really only eat there because we need something to soak up the booze. Still not sure if it will be 100% reservation based or there will be some walk ups available. During the week, I'm betting there will be plenty of available non reservations seats outside.
