Dining Planning For June...Insane!

I find it insane that trying to make reservations for our trip in June are already booked up, aside from a few times which we were able to nab up! I remember in the past calling restaurants the morning of and making reservations, but now 3+ months in advance, insane! Miss the times when you planned dinner around what park you were at that day, not the other way around!

Disney has made dining a big part of a WDW vacation and there is simply no way to get around planning your dining way ahead of time if you wish to dine at some of the more popular places. Reservations can be made as much as 190 days (180 days + up to 10 day resort stay) in advance and most of the more popular restaurants fill up at around 180-185 days out.

I wouldn't get overly concerned just yet. If you have the time, just keep checking the website. Chances are reservations will open up between now and your trip. I thought I had no chance of getting 'Ohana, Le Cellier, or Be our guest because they were booked up but I kept checking and was able to get reservations for all of them around the time I was hoping for.

BOG is the only ADR I have ever made 180 days out....last year at Thanksgiving I was able to book every character dining meal we wanted to do including Chef Mickey 14 days prior to arrival when we actually booked the visit. However last Easter we booked 60 days prior to arrival and I was never able to get an ADR to Chef Mickey's or Captain's Grille for Easter Brunch. The key is to keep trying. You just never know when someone will cancel or swap their ADR for a different time/date slot. Or Disney open's up more available tables for reserving...

We did end up getting all restaurants we want in, so that'll be nice! For the most pasrt, dinners are either at 4:30 or 7:30, which I thought to be reasonably fair. It was just crazy trying to figure out what restaurant was where to make sure we saw everything without sacrificing something else. At worst we've done stand by before, and have gotten really lucky with it! Does anyone know if BOG does that (not really concerned with wait times).

Did you book your own trip or use an agent? If you used an agent and they did not warn you about the 180 day window then get a new agent.

I would highly recommend surfing the forums and gathering other information before other little surprises spring up on you, Disney is a very different place than it was 15 years ago and going in with lack of preparation is a recipe for disaster.

Sorry- Newbie here but someone mentioned a website to make reservations. Do you get access to the website when you book ? Also, is there a list of restaurants ? How did you decide what restaurant you wanted to visit ?

Yeah. And they even say it several times on the planning DVD, so every crazy person (like myself) has their ADR wish list planned 7 months in advance so they can be online at 5am 180 days out. I mean who plans where they are eating on a particular day 6 months in adcance?! Lol
