Dining Plan

I was wondering if anyone here could help me. If you purchase the Disney Dining Plan (it is now being offered at a discounted rate for FL residents) how does it work? Are you given a certain amount of dinners and such up front? Or does it go by how many days your stay will be? Any info would be appreciated since I'm considering whether it would be worth it for my boyfriend and I to purchase this.

I understand about purchasing the plan with a vacation package but I'm having trouble finding out how it works if you just purchase the plan itself (I believe Disney is offering it to FL residents for $70 and it's good for a year).

We just purchased the "Disney Dining Experience" as a Florida Resident and a DVC member as well as an annual passholder. All three gave us a discount for DDE which cost $50. It is good at most all of the restaurants in the parks and resorts except Victoria and Alberts Chefs Table and I believe the non-Disney run establishments. You receive a 20% (if I am remembering correctly) discount on your entire bill for parties up to 10 people, including beverages and alcohol. We figure with 3 trips per year the savings are worth it!Hope this helps!
