Dining Plan with Annual Pass

We just got back this week from our April Disney trip, and our daughter was not yet 3, so she did not need park admission. Next April when we go, she will need park admission. But last year, I ordered Annual Passes for my wife and I and our son. We used these APs on this trip and will use them again next year. I heard that they now offer a dining plan for AP holders...or maybe they always did, but this is our first time having APs. Does it have to be booked as a package, with the same rule that all people must be booked under the same specifics? Because my daughter will need park admission but we will not. Is there a way to book us all under the dining plan without buying park admission for all of us?

It's a special AP package with dining plan, no room discount usually though.

You can add her ticket when you arrive at the resort.

Your booking will be considered a package and will carry all the same payment and cancellation policies when you book with the AP dining plan, but you will not have to buy tickets. However, there is a catch. You must be booked under either the Passholder Annual Rate (which is rack rate) or an AP discount. You can not use a general public offer, pin code, etc. To get the DDP under any offer other than the 2 AP offers I mentioned would require a minimum ticket purchase. In the case of your daughter, just buy tickets or an AP when you get there.

Thank you for the info. And is the dining plan the same price under this offer the same as the price of the regular dining plan? And what is the current price of the dining plan for adults and children?

Also, we have over 1,000 rewards points accumulated so far on our Disney Visa. Initially, I was planning on using those rewards dollars to pay for our dining on next year's trip, but if we get the dining plan, that won't be necessary. Will I be able to cash those rewards points out and then use them to pay towards the room and DDP package, if that's the way I decide to go?

Just to be clear, only one person on the reservation has to have an AP to book the room as an AP holder. You can add DDP to the reservation as an AP holder and it applies to all guests in the room regardless what type of ticket they will have.

The only type of Discount an AP holder can get AND get the dining plan is an AP room only discount. Those discounts come out only a few months in advance. Mousesavers is the best place to keep track of when they come out.

I did this in January. I purchased the dining plan on my trip and it came out to about what you would spend with the Tables of wonderland discount. Actually, I did the math and the discount for tables and wonderland were better. It also forced me to eat differently then I normally do.

So my recommendation based on price is to get table of wonderland card instead and it will save you money.

But that room-only discount can often be really good, over 30% on Deluxe and DVC units, maybe even mods depending on the season, and at least 25% on Values. Granted, the free dining promotion can seem better but if you already have and have used an annual pass and this is at least the second trip (or if you anticipate more trips on that annual pass), it can be a much better deal than free dining.

Tables in Wonderland is also an incredible deal if you enjoy having alcohol with your meals. Considering how expensive a single beer can be at WDW, having a few or a couple glasses of wine with dinner, that 20% discount comes in really handy. I believe it's also valid at most of the lounges in WDW as well, so if you're just going to your resort's lounge for a nightcap, or getting something poolside, it still works. The only caveat - Tables in Wonderland (to my knowledge) is not valid for use at most food courts, except the food courts at locations where there are no full service restaurants (Value resorts, Port Orleans French Quarter, water parks and Wide World of Sports).
