Dining Plan to end at OKW?!?!

I just got home from my travel agent (UK). He called me in to say that even though we booked OKW with DDP, it was only pre-registration and they are scrapping dining plans at OKW, and when they go to confirm the booking, Disney will say ddp no longer available at the resort. We are due to go October 2014.
Anyone heard anything about this?

I can not in any manner shape or form think that this is correct.
I'd have to agree with this. Restaurants that take the DDP occasionally change sure but I can't see any logic in certain resorts not doing it. Now... if you were booking with a free dining pin, there are times that there will be no more rooms left at certain resorts under the pin or certain resorts not eligible. Maybe that's what they meant?

Agree with all of you. Apparently the Disney rep went in and said that OKW is being taken off plan and once it's confirmed all people booked at OKW (as cash payers with ddp) will be informed of that. I said they couldn't possibly do that as a £10k holiday turns into a £14k holiday for us as we love love love character meals.
He also said they are scrapping the TS dining plan for all resorts.
We have been booked for over a year, and even the Disneyholidays.co.uk and waltdisneyworld.co.uk is still showing you can book the ddp plan at OKW for the dates. The free dining booking period ends today.
Without the DDP my dad will make us stay at his 3 bed place at Bahama Bay (He's paying for next years trip) and I then would lose FP too!!!!
I told my travel agent I would rather cancel than stay there. Onsite +DDP + FP is the only way a Disney holiday works for us :(

First, we should confirm that by OKW you mean Old Key West, right?

If so, there's no reason why one of the 20-something Disney resort hotels would not offer the Dining Plan. You were given bad information, or there was a miscommunication.

And I did also say that my jungle drums (you guys) had not mentioned a thing about this, so it couldn't be true!

Oh, and my TA didn't even know about fastpass, or what it was......
Annnnnd there ya go! :)

Yes, sorry Old Key West.
I'm thinking it's miscommunication. Or, could it be that OKW will become DVC-use only? That's my only reason I could throw out there?

Now... just to add to this, I went out and tried to find a room at OKW available for any time in October 2014 and was unable to. It could be that the dates haven't opened for booking or it could be something funky in the system. Maybe the reality was they weren't able to and thought that was why. Who knows!

They are changing the booking system to 11 months prior only soon, rather than being able to book 18 months in advance so that could be the case for that.
But regardless of my TA being a numpty, he is passing on information from the Disney rep (apparently there are only 6 in the UK) *reaches for pinch of salt*

I would start using a different TA for your Disney trips. He/she is woefully misinformed/under educated about WDW.
That is true. But he just literally presses the go button. I source my own flights, and hotel/tix package from WDW then get him to book so it is ABTA/ATOL bonded.
It is the information he has received from the Disney rep that has worried my, either he has misremembered what he was told, or he is correct. Hopefully the former!

I would not worry too much as I can see no way that he could be correct.

I agree. The thing I would worry about is this particular travel agent messing it up and not fixing it.

DDP is a huge money maker for Disney especially for guests that use their credit to purchase, pancakes or Alfredo/pasta type meals, they are dirt cheap. Disney is getting better at only offering Free Dining at their under utilized resorts.
