Dining plan question

Is there anyway to buy just the Dining Plan and not have to get all the "extras" they are throwing in? We currently have the Plus Dining plan, but I would really like to do the Plus Deluxe Dining plan. I don't need all the extra stuff, so can I just get the dining plan without that stuff, or do they make you take it anyway? I mean, they are charging me technically anyway for a bunch of stuff I'm not going to use.

I think the poster is referring to the SeaRacers discount, arcade vouchers, Planet Hollywood coupons, etc. I'd second the option to pay cheaper not to get that crap, but guaranteed WDW isn't out any money as they are pretty crappy coupons IMO.

I've never seen an option, and the vouchers are shipped to your house about 2 weeks before you leave.

I'm guessing she means the things like the free round of mini golf per room, arcade game card, Planet Hollywood souvenir, marina discounts, etc.

I believe these are perks for the Magic Your Way package and have nothing to do with the meal plan, though.

There are different categories of Dining Plan. I'm guessing the OP is referring either to the "extras" in the WDTC Package Magical Extras Perks or the bigger "extras" in the Premium or Platinum plans. The WDTC extras go with any package you buy from Disney or through a Travel Agent, you get them regardless. It would probably cost Disney more to not send it than it does if you use all they send.

Yes, this was the "extra" stuff I was in reference to.

Seeing as how most of the "extras" you get with a package require you to spend even more money than just what you get with the coupons/vouchers, they're not really anything special that Disney is giving you... Just a way to entice Guests to do something, give them a discount, but still make money because the discount is less than the profit margin.

Take the free mini golf, for example. It's one free round *per room*. Almost noone ever plays mini golf alone, so Disney knows that by giving that one free round, they're getting one, two or even three more paying customers in exchange for that one free game.

And the Sea Raycer coupon gives you 30 minutes for free *when you buy 60 minutes* (or something like that). So Disney's already renting out the boat, they're just giving you a little bonus time at not much extra cost to them.

Personally they can keep their extras, and just throw us in some Mugs. We have the Deluxe Dining Plan (1 CS, 1 TS, 1 snack) and we don't get mugs with our package. But, for some reason, the basic CS, and the higher end plans all come with mugs. Just silly. :brick:

Have you looked into trading your pkg to a room discount and adding the dining plan on? Are you paying for your dining plan or is this free dining?

Side note:
The plan you describe that you have is the basic Disney Dining Plan, with 1CS, 1TS and 1 Snack.
The Deluxe Dining Plan includes three meals (CS or TS), 2 Snacks and a mug.
The Quick Service Dining Plan includes 2CS meals, 2 Snacks and 1 mug.

Thanks for the side note, of course it'll all be different in 2011. :ROFLOL:
