Dining outside of the parks for "cheap"

I will be working out of the Orlando area for around a week next week and need some tips on where to EAT! When we're at Disney we usually hit up the restaurants in the parks, but since I can't convince the wife to let me spend the cash on tickets to go to the parks for only a handful of hours per day (can't really convince myself, either, tbph) I'll need to dine outside of the parks.

Since this will be on the company's dime, I'll need to stay within reason, which means I max out at ~$30 for dinner. Any tips, folks?

TIA!

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
D'oh! I totally forgot about that. I usually stay at Universal for a night or two and walk.
Lol yeah I figured you just maybe forgot which is easy to do if your used to
Just walking over etc. We have gone too but already had parked to go to Uni so was no extra to go there. In that case it's worth it of course, but might not be if just going for a quick bite. :)

The restaurants in the Crossroads though most are national chains are all great not to mention some of the dinings options at the Downtown Disney resorts. Check out Restaurants.com, I have found many great deals in and around the "World".

~edit~ Also consider the restaurants at the Bonnet Creek resorts!

If you want to come onto property for a meal, Sanaa over at AKL- Kidani should keep you within your budget and offer a great meal.
Agree completely and also would reccomend for a great meal and affordable at a resort The Turf Club at SSR. A hidden gem and has readily available reservations it can walk up usually. Another good one would be Beaches and Cream for a great burger and deserts at The Beach Club. :)

Beach Club sounds like an awesome option. I'm gonna have to check it out.

I'd second Turf Club. Also, The Wave at Contemporary might scrape the ceiling of your per diem but they have good eats. And there's also Kona Cafe at Polynesian, a couple of options that'll get you on property if not in parks, maybe you can still see the fireworks if you time your meals right.

Found myself staying right on other side of I-4 from Crossroads a few years back for business at Marriott Village. There is a Landry's Seafood House next door and the Bahama Breeze is there as well. There should be plenty of choices there to stay under $30.

"Outside the parks" can still be at the resorts or DTD. There are "lower" cost options like Beaches and Cream or House of Blues at DTD.
