Dining or Deluxe Dining?

Hey there!

My husband, son and I were browsing character meals and menus today and found so many places we would love to try. However, I'd love to hear some opinions from all of you! What are your favorite table service and counter service places throughout WDW? We need to start working on where we'd like to eat for sure so we can decide which dining plan is best for us. Too bad there isn't something between the two. Regular dining seems like to little and DD seems like too much!

Most Popular Eating Places.

Hi Folks,I tend to read reviews on this and other sites for people's opinions,but our favs are starting with QS, the CHH at MK, and SS at Epcot, FTB,at AK. and BE, at HS. oh and WPE and COD both Market place DD. and as far as table service well everyone has their own favs but we love Jikos at AKL. And HOB at DD. This year we are looking forward to CG at Contempory,and VN at Epcot,and T- Rex at DD. Our biggest let down was Le Cellier, yet it still gets great reviews from lots of people:wave:

Regular dining is more than enough........Unless your booking many Signature events I wouldn't book the Deluxe Plan.

I couldn't imagine eating more meals than the regular dining plan offers.

Thanks everyone! We sat and talked about it and agreed Deluxe would be too much food! So we're gonna cut down the places we chose and do regular dining. <3

We have had the regular DP the last couple of years and find it plenty. We usually end up with a few credits left over that we are struggling to spend on the last day. Mind you, we don't eat breakfast - or only something really small. It all depends on your appetites, but if you were only a couple of credits short of what you want to do, you could always chose the cheapest meal and pay out of pocket.

Whichever you do, it needs careful planning to make the most of it, as I'm sure you have found out already! I've spent many happy hours planning our next adventure! Good luck!

my wife and two young kids did the deluxe plan a few summers back and it was way too much food. unless you plan on walking around uncomfortable all day, its alot of sitting and eating. if you choose that plan, i suggest as many signature experiences as you can get. eat twice a day, but take two credits for those. enjoy

Deluxe Dining is SOOOOO much food, however other posters are 100% correct, if youre going for alot of signature meals it would be worth it. We did the Deluxe Dining Plan .... ONCE and had Chef Mickey's for breakfast, Crystal Palace for lunch then Biergarten for dinner. Ughhhhhhh!!! The next day I couldnt even LOOK at food!!! Alot of our credits went unused. We've done the regular dining plan for several years, and towards the end of our trip (since we always go during Food and Wine) we use our snack credits on the kiosks in World Showcase. :slurp:

Deluxe is too much food, except keep in mind that many restaurants count as 2 table service meals. For ex. we are getting the deluxe plan this trip in Sept. because we are eating at Cinderellas table for dinner which counts as 2 sit downs so that leaves us with 1 meal left for the day which we will use for breakfast, so thats just 2 meals during the day (breakfast and dinner). We are also going to the Polynesian dinner show (counts as 2), Mickeys back yard bbq(counts as 2), and the Hoop de do revue(counts as 2 meals), so all of those days we really will be only eating 2 meals a day- 1 at breakfast and 1 at dinner. So, it is worth it if you plan on going to a lot of the specialty meals, if not, then the regular plan is enough.

The only time I have found deluxe dining to be good is when you are doing a trip where dining is the primary focus. You can do a TS breakfast, snack your way through lunch and then have dinner at a signature restaurant.

I see you've gotten alot of feedback about Regular vs Deluxe Dining but not too many restaurant suggestions, so here are some of mine:

Counter-Service Faves: *Cosmic Rays in MK*; Casey's Hot Dogs in MK; Sunshine Seasons in Epcot; Flametree BBQ in AK

Sit-Down Faves: Rose & Crown Pub DURING IllumiNations at Epcot; 1900 Park Fare character breakfast at Grand Floridian (the Mad Hatter is a hoot, and you don't often get to see Mary Poppins or Alice in Wonderland anywhere else); 'Ohana for dinner; Sci-Fi Dine In at DHS; Brown Derby (signature) at DHS; Le Cellier (signature for dinner only) at Epcot

My fave QS restaurants are Pecos Bills in MK (although the last time my burger was a tad dry...still give it the benefit of the doubt when I go in a few weeks). It's great for the extras you can put on the burgers - mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled jalapenos....you can really create a great burger combo with all of that.

At Epcot, I love Tangerine Grill at Morocco. It's another must stop at for me - love the hummus, felafal (did I spell that right?) and the gyro mystery meat.

For AK, I definitely stop at Flame Tree - never had a bad meal there - and we are never hungry afterward.

If I am at DTD, I would stop at Wolfgang Puck Express - great portions and some different choices from the usual burgers, etc most other places offer.

If by any chance you are at Saratoga Springs the flatbreads for lunch are great. I usually opt for the barbecue chicken....

I can't really say there is anything worth raving over at HS....
