Dining at SSR

We have a trip planed to SSR in early August. Wanted to ask how the dining options are at the resort. Is the food at the Turf Club pretty good? How about the pricing?

Is the counter service option OK? Do they serve food at the feature pool?

Any input from anyone who has stayed there recently would be appreciated.

Counter service was on par with every where else... maybe a bit limited in selection.
We found the Turf Club to be very good... prime rib was excellent and the service was way beyond our expectations. We'll be going back!

The Turf Club food is very good, but a little on the expensive side IMO.
The Artist Palette (counter service) is pretty good, I like their flatbread pizzas. They don't "serve" food at the feature pool but Artist Palette is right there and you can just get your food and walk outide and sit at the tables near the pool.

Flatbreads at Artists Palatte were great...we did several quick meals there and have no complaints. Had one dinner at Turf Club that was fantastic. Sat outside on a beautiful night, had great service and the food was awesome. Afterwards we walked down and hopped the boat to DTD. Many gripe about SSR but we've had very positive experiences there...it's our home resort.

Have fun!

Both the Turf Club and Artists Pallette are good, but rather limited in offerings.

The menus are on line, so you can see pricing and offerings.

The new pool and pool bar in the Paddock Area is supposed to be finished in Spring 2011 - so it SHOULD be open for your trip. That area is supposed to have a quick service location in it as well. As far as I know, there is no info out there on what sort of QSFB place it will be. Given the themeing of SSR (health resort) they could really do some nice things in that place. Or they could go with horse meat - did I go to far ?

I agree that the selection at Turf Club is not vast, and it is a wee bit pricier than some of the other WDW sit-down restaurants (though there are still plenty as or more expensive). But the food is very good. If you're using the dining plan, you won't consider it a waste of a TS credit.

The issue I have with Artist's Palette isn't the quality of the food, but it has been in my experience amongst the slowest moving Counter Service restaurants on property. Probably in part because the resort itself is so huge so lines are inevitable. But I always recommend, if staying there, to see if you can get into the Congress Park section. The walk from that section to the DTD Marketplace is only a few minutes longer than from that section to the main house, but you'll have many more quick service dining options, and you will probably be served faster, especially if we're talking about getting breakfast before going to the parks, at a time of day when many of the stores aren't yet open so the Marketplace isn't too busy. The 2 times we've stayed at SSR, we'd prefer walking to Wolfgang Puck Express for breakfast, either eating there (a counter service credit, though once you order at the front, they serve you at your table and refresh drinks if you want), or ordering it in advance, picking it up and bringing it back to the room. We also had one "early night" each trip where I'd order dinner in advance, go to WPE to pick it up, and eat in our room.
