? What makes you wonder if I'm being serious? My family so rarely has severe GI issues that I tend to remember them. Just last week I had an episode of food poisoning - the first time since 1981.

I used the term "upset tummy" to avoid sharing the nasty details.
It was very specific/accurate to a time and a place related to a minor event that happened decades ago. Something I wouldn't be able to do. I'd be like... "remember way back when I barfed on the tour guide while we were eating at that place with the things in the front yard."

....buuuut I am starting to think "minor" wasn't an accurate take-away. The details must have been very memorable, sorry. 😬

My brother threw up chocolate mousse from France in the American Adventure on the way to the show... I think just after we got up the stairs/escalators. But that was in '80s, so don't worry about stepping in it.

Minor things that happen on vacation can be memorable. I remember getting an upset stomach from a pasta dish at Rainforest many years ago but it wasn’t food poisoning. Just way too much butter and cream in the sauce.

I vomited privately (somehow?!) into a cup at Connections Eatery in December. Congratulations of you had me on your bingo card talking about vomit three times in two days here.

Found footage of incident:

My youngest had an “episode” in 2018 when we were staying at SSR. Thankfully the trash can was parked next to the bed. My guess is he tends to overindulge on food he doesn’t typically eat at home (eg ”junk”). He felt fine in the morning and since he had no fever, we chalked it up to him having his typical vacation-vomit episode that he typically has. At least this one didn’t involve being on the side of the road next to the AZ-Mexico border with border patrol wanting to know why we stopped and were out of car. Never saw someone back-up so fast😂

In addition to various bugs wandering through the concentrated population at Disney World the mere fact of traveling to Florida can be a major change in diet and habits. We sit for hours between bouts of anxiety getting on the plane then disembarking then stuff ourselves with weird food we don't normally eat after walking hours in heat and all the stress making your ressies brings it is no conundrum as to why we get the uppsies or the downsies while at the world.
I took my brother to Universal after Mother's day where I ate airliner chicken the night before one year, I thought pink in the joint was bad but ate it anyway, good thing I knew where every single bathroom in Universal is as I visited all of them that day

No, not really. I'm also not sure it is a stomach virus. That's part of why I posted the question.

In some cases, it may be that we just aren't used to eating certain foods, or maybe more the combo of greasy/spicy foods followed by theme park rides.

Like twice we ate the Boardwalk Deli. First time we ate there was great, but the second round of sandwiches (months later) was very greasy. Dripping level of greasy. Plus cheese and sauce! It was a LOT of grease.

We normally eat way more produce than we can get with our meals at WDW. Often if we do order a (side) veggie, it is terrible. I was recently excited to see green beans at Boma, but then I bit into them and they were not good. Not at all fresh. Another night the veggies that came with my dinner were minimal and inedible. I got two small carrots, and they were extremely tough to chew. I don't even know what one does to make a carrot that texture!

Yak and Yeti was great: our meals came with real servings of fresh veggies, plus a side order of bok choy that was excellent.

Maybe we've just had a round of bad luck at WDW.
I’ve only been on one cruise in my life but I recall that the food on the ship consistently made me sick. Not like over the top stomach bug sick, just bad sour stomach even though it was the same stuff I’d eat “on land”. During days we were at port I had no issue… I concluded it must be a sensitivity to some kind of preservative they used with the onboard food. Maybe there’s a common preservative or flavoring in Disney food you’re reacting to? Or, like you said, maybe just bad luck. I travel with a toddler now so the fact that one of us will end up puking our guts out during any kind of travel is just par for the course. At that age where he will literally lick a railing for no particular reason, lol, so you can imagine how that turns out.

One time had some bad shrimp at Ariel's Grotto in DL... I was the only one that had it and very shortly after we left I had to make a mad dash for a restroom and only barely made it in time. If it was a virus the odds are someone else in the family would have gotten it as well... but given the rapid onset and the shrimp being the only thing I had even eaten since the previous day I'm pretty sure it was food poisoning.

The only time I had a problem was with the baked beans at Flame Tree…whatever seasoning they use just doesn’t agree with me, so as much as I love it, I avoid it.
I can eat Taylor Ham/pork roll and White Castle, so my stomach must have protection built in…

Krystal instead of White Castle in FL but when White Castle opened up in Orlando a few years ago, hundreds of customers waited in their cars lined up a day before the location had their grand opening. If White Castle opened up at the infamous Pleasure Island back in the day I would get in line to eat those little burgers washing it down with an ice cold beer.

One of the things our family has started doing prior to going on vacation is taking probiotics for 2 weeks leading up to the trip. That way our stomachs had a build up of the "good" bacteria to help settle our stomachs before indulging in food we normally don't have and drinking water that we're not used to.

The Targets in Orlando now sell Poland Spring…if you drink that in NJ like my wife does…that’s ALL she drinks…
