Hi all! I'm going to heading to DW Jan. 10-14, and was looking through the resorts with the 30% discount that was released today. College student on a solo trip, so I'm thinking of staying at at a value resort to save money... I noticed that All Star Sports and Music are around $75 with that discount, will Movies is more like $90... Is there any real difference between the three hotels, or is there another reason the price is like that? Thanks!

We have stayed at both All Star Movies and Music. The rooms were identical except for the theme. That being said... we would stay at Movies before Music again because of the theme. My kids didn't find much exciting about a huge cowboy boot, (we were in the country section), but they LOVED seeing a huge Buzz Light Year. As an adult, I would go for saving money.... as a family with kids, I can certainly see the draw of spending just a bit more and staying somewhere that the kids will be thrilled with the decor.

Hope that helps!

They are pretty much identical outside of the theme. However, I do believe that Movies is technically in a different town/county/whatever so it has a slightly higher tax rate than the other two. But if you are looking at just the rates excluding tax, is it perhaps pulling up a preferred room for Movies and only standard for the other two? I just priced Movies and Music for those dates, and Movies is coming back as higher but is a preferred room while Music is just a standard room. So that would account for most of the difference. The actual discount rate (As it will be pulling up the "Late Winter Offer") may also vary slightly depending on demand. One may be at 15% and the other only 10% for instance.

I second the Pop suggestion if you can swing it. We stayed at Music during our first trip, but Pop during our second and loved that we didn't have to share a bus with the other All Stars. We also liked that we could walk to the AoA food court if we wanted to :)

Yeah, AS Movies often has a slightly higher rate because more families with kids tend to want to book there due to the themed areas ( Toy Story and Dalmatians being a big draw for little ones ).
It has a smaller ( but nice ) food court when compared to the other two All Star Resorts.

All Star Sports draws a LOT of bookings from tour groups, visiting school groups, school teams, cheerleaders, and *jock* Dads with families.
In January, Sports can be jumping with waves of tour group folks or visiting teen groups.
You have been warned!
;)

I personally love All Star Music out of the clutch.
Of the three, it has the least amount of families with children so i find it to have a much mellower vibe.
It also has a more straightforward layout compared to the other two, in that the pathways are more of a *straight walk* from point A to point B.
I find Sports and Movies walkways tend to be more curvy and lengthy from point to point.
I would rather walk from the main lobby to my room in as straight a path as possible after being on my feet all day walking the Parks, instead of taking the meandering *scenic route* by the pool(s) and giant figures late at night.
Those steps saved make all the difference when you are tired from a long day !

Hope this helps !

We have stayed at all of the values Pop, movies, music, sports and Art. If the price is cheaper at Music or Sports I'd go with either of them in a heart beat. All of the all stars offer the same services and room size/bedding. Personally, I'd go with Music, but that's just me.
