Did anyone ever earn enough Disney $$$ for a free trip???

Back in '07, we had 1148 Disney dollars, which meant my family of four had free tickets, plus a couple hundred off our resort. We also had a few $$$'s we cashed in when we went in '08 and '09. Now we were supposed to go this past Christmas, but didn't, because of financial reasons. :arghh: but it turned out to be a good thing we hadn't planned a Christmas trip, because my DH ended up having brain surgery on December 17th (ruptured anuerysm). Now with all the medical bills, 2014 is not looking good either. So, we are looking at Christmastime 2015. I have over 1600 Disney $$$s on my Visa right now, plus $600 in gift cards and over $200 on Discover, which I will cash in at BJ's Wholesale for some more gift cards eventually. So that's over $2400 right now, with the trip nearly 2 years away, I'm thinking I could possibly have a free trip!! Hey they say all good things come to those who wait, so waiting a little longer than i would have liked to might be okay if it's all free :p:p !!

Wow how do accumulate that many points? If I max my card out every month I only get like 30-50 disney dollars or points whatever the chase visa calls them.

We use our cards for everything. We have put down payments or cars on it, we do not py cash anymore for anything. It all goes on our DV and the we pay it off at months end. Also, we end up getting the premiun card, in 1 month we ahve more than overed the 49 fee. My DW and I have excellant credit so our limit is pretty high and we have never even come close to maxing out the crd.

Yes and it's GREAT! I am very lucky that for business I do a lot of buying on a certain website. In turn that website gives me bonus dollars that I can use to buy Disney gift cards. I had enough last year to purchase my whole Disney trip with the gift cards and I went during free Disney dinning, CHA-CHING!

This is me. The funny thing is - the way we get the MOST points is when we pay off the trip in full. Usually a boost of a few hundred rewards dollars right before the trip. We use these to pay off charges to the room - souvenirs and dining tips.

we have done a lot better with the southwest chase visa card... when we got it you received 50,000 points for signing up and it was a 100 a year... now its 100 still but you have to spend 3000 now in 3 months to get the 50,000 points. we fly for free everytime the points accrue quickly once we have enough for flights we switch over to one of our other high reward cards for purchases. Flights from buffalo to florida have been between 6000 and 10000 a person... we fly 3 for free all the time
plus we cancel the card when we have gotten are points and re apply a year later... you used to be able to sign up for the Marriott rewards card then transfer those points to southwest. Disney never had great rewards on there card

We go every 6-8 months and always have at least $400 Disney dollars on our Visa. A couple months ago, we got a referral package. For every person that signs up, they get $200 and we get $50. We got 4 relatives to sign up and give us their $200, so that's $1000 right there.

I get like $3 in Disney Dollars it seems like??? Maybe I need to be doing this differently? I only get $1 for every $100 I spend - is that the same for everyone or am I getting jipped?

I have about $650 now plus some gift cards, still holding out. When I used to have AP's, one time we had enough disney visa dollars to pay for the hotel, I used frequent flyer miles to fly, and I had the AP's for that trip, so it didn't cost anything but food. I never factor in food to the cost of the trip because I gotta eat anyhow, and DD and I usually split meals so it's not that costly.

Well, I have one DS in a community college ... he charges the class (I pay), he charges the books (he pays). The other DS is at UCONN, which does not accept Visa, so he charges on Discover. Both DS have a Visa & Discover linked to my card, so they charge their gas and other expenses and then pay me at the end of the month (they work part time jobs). So I've build up a few $$$ thanks to them. Plus it's teaching them responsibility when they have to fork over the $$$ at the end of the month. I charge my groceries and car/house insurance onto the card as well.

It is the same as everyone else. If you have the premier card ($49 annual fee) you get an additional 1% on gas, groceries, restaurants and most Disney purchases. I don't know what your spending habits are, but I use my card for most all of my monthly expenses and then I pay the bill so as not to carry a balance. I also travel a lot for business so I use that card to get the points as well.
