Ok, so now that Steven Tyler is officially a judge on American Idol, he is directly linked to TWO of the largest attractions @ DHS! (AIE and RNRRC in case you didn't know, but if you're reading this, I'm sure you did...)
Yet think of how many ACTUAL Disney characters have NEVER been represented in any sort of way @ WDW...

AIE is not DHS' largest. Neither is RnRC.

ToT and TSMM have those 2 spots.

And he is quite a character himself. I'm intrigued that he got selected since he is still popular with almost every generation today, but my hatred for American Idol knows no bounds. I hope it gets canned.

Was sounds dangerous ever popular?

It replaced Superstar Television, not Sounds Dangerous. But to answer your question, I don't think Sounds Dangerous was ever "popular". The Monster Sound Show (the precursor to Sounds Dangerous) was moderately popular when the park opened. I thought it was fun, but I know it's reputation is a solid "meh".

Superstar Television was pretty popular at the park's inception, from what I remember.

AIE could one one of the largest attraction misfires in DHS maybe.

Agreed. While I surprisingly found the show to be somewhat entertaining, it missed the boat by about 4 or 5 years. Hope they have something good in development to replace it in another year or 2 when no one is watching idol anymore.

My mom participated in it and won the first round, but didn't want to continue on to the final round because it would be a waste of time (The prize is a golden ticket to the front of a line at a real Idol audition, and i'm pretty sure the age cutoff for that is 28ish. Since my mom is 46, She couldn't really take advantage of that)
Plus, it takes a LOT of time out of the participants day.

Correct. Back before Sunset Boulevard was built and the Studios had limited attractions they were pretty popular. I remember full houses of Monster Sound Show, and I remember the full packed crowds at that first 'drop down' section of Superstar Television.

They were probably also popular because they actually were part of the studio theme with every other attraction back then.

I remember being part of Superstar Television when I was like 9 - I was the skipper on Gilligan's Island. I also remember we waited like an hour at the front of the line for the next show just so I could get picked, so the show certainly was popular back in the early 90s.

I don't know how much of it was due to the content, but certainly any attraction where audience members have a chance to be selected holds a strong fascination with guests. People like being picked to participate, so it makes the attraction more interesting.

Yeah, people like to participate, but not everyone wants to sing in front of people. That's border line emberassing for some people. Why do you think they serve alcohol at kareoke bars? :ROFLOL:

I never did Superstar Television, but my sister and I rode the Honey I Shrunk the Kids bee in the old backstage tour, I've been in the engine room of battleship on the backstage tour, and I've been in the Indiana Jones show twice.
