That is a common fact not an insult. This does not mean girls are stupid or cannot be astronauts or scientists. But how many times do you see a little girl tugging on her mothers shirt saying "mommy mommy I want to go see the dinosaurs and watch the video on where our automotive fuel comes from!" No they are more excited to meet one of their favorite princesses. This does not suggest girls are dumb or incapable of becoming as successful as men.
I can't. I.just.can't with this statement. Maybe YOUR daughter doesn't like them(nothing wrong with that) but to say its a common fact?!

Yep. Cinderella is a doormat, Snow White is a blockhead and Ariel is...wow, probably the worst of them all.

Nah... to me, Aurora takes the cake. Just being awake, so practically her entire life beyond that spindle, depends on her being rescued by her prince charming and experiencing his kiss. We honestly don't even see that much of her personality beyond her daydreaming in the woods, which was, again, about prince charming.

Although, how ironic is it that Maleficent's original plan for her was death by spindle... something that would have been a "woman's" tool primarily at that time?

I see little girls going nuts over meeting Jedi Mickey and Stormtrooper Donald each May....

I have two daughters - I see this all the time. My 5 year old loves princesses - but she also love dinosaurs. My 9 year old daughter loved test track so much, so wanted to go on it alone without her brother.

Please understand - some girls may feel the way you describe, but all. Today, I suspect what you describe is a minority viewpoint.

I feel for you the way people are attacking you. However, I would suggest taking a step back and reflecting on the strength of the opinions you are receiving here.

One Little Spark...
About a week ago, I told my wife that when I was a child, I watched my sister's VHS tape of the Little Mermaid more than she did. She looked at me and said..."I am not surprised.."

What do you think she meant by that???

:p
Next you'll say you shampoo with Pantene and actually use conditioner!

Ugh. Just ugh. I don't see any of this as geared towards boys or girls. These attractions are built around different facets of pop culture that anyone can like. Lots of girls like Star Wars and are excited to join the Jedi Academy show. Lots of boys like Frozen and got their photos with Ana and Elsa. I don't think enjoying an attraction has that much to do with gender. If your girl doesn't find a lot to do at Epcot or HS, that's an indication of her disinterests, not every girl.

Yup. Snow White took an apple from a strange old lady. Very bright. And Ariel ran away from home and got her voice stolen by a sea witch to be with a man she had not spoken to and had just met. But not all the princesses are bad per se; we have the wise, like Elsa...

Really you are going with dinosaurs to make your point. Dinosaurs are one of the universal kid phases. Don't most kids have a dinosaur phase at some point? I'll give your the fuel question but if I remember correctly your kids are 7 and 9 this the the perfect age to introduce them to lots of things science and culture included. My daughter may beg to meet Mulan but while doing so we introduce her to Chinese culture, we try foods. We use Mulan as a gateway.

Again, more stereotyping. If you want anyone to treat your posts with dignity, they need to be more objective. Unless you have personally asked enough girls to make a mathematically sound sample about their preferences or aversions to dinosaurs, you can't say for sure that something is "fact"... even then there is always margin of error.

Your OPINION is not a fact. There are lots of girls that love dinosaurs (sooooo many children do!). And I have never heard ANY child discuss "automotive fuel", so that example is just grasping at straws. Seriously, the only idea you've come up for for your vision of "balance" is adding more princesses to things. If that's all you want out of your WDW vacation, then stay in Fantasyland.

Aurora was heavily sheltered. She didn't know what was going on. She obeyed orders, even up to the point where touched the spindle. She's asleep for the majority of the movie anyway.

Ariel, on the other hand, is ridiculous. She claims to want to be a part of a completely different world, one that she's never experienced. She disobeys her father for a man she claims to "love" after one or two sightings. She essentially sells her soul for the affections of a man SHE'S NEVER MET. She's sixteen and leaves her entire family and familiar surroundings for a man she barely knows, and she married him in that atrocious dress, which makes things worse haha.

I'm a fan of Belle myself...she really wanted adventure in the great wide somewhere!
And, she came from nothing.

However, I'm gonna go with Mulan for the strongest willed and most honorable of the princesses myself.

She didn't throw a hissy fit and proverbially run away like an 8 year old to hide in her room because she was "misunderstood", like Elsa does. She stood up for her friends, family, and country.

One classy dame!

That's why I think Elsa resonates so much with modern audiences.
