DHS and AK in one day

My family and I are going to be in WDW May 15th-18th. :sohappy: We are planning on going to DHS and AK in one day on the 17th. We will be breaking up all of our days b/c I have a 21 mth old that will need a nap in the middle of the day. Just wondering which park we should do in the morning and which on in the afternoon. We will not be going to the fireworks show at DHS so that is not an issue. There are only a few things (EE, Safari, and maybe 1 or 2 other things) we really want to do at AK. There is more we (the children) want to do at DHS. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't mention if you had children other than the baby, and if so what ages. Partly your success would be based on crowds for the day and what you want to accomplish.

Mid May should not be too heavy. Toy Story Mania at Studios is still ridiculous. If you are there at park opening, have one person go to get FP. You can walk on RnRC and ToT in the morning.

For AK, FP either EE or Safari and walk on to the other. AK also tends to empty out a bit mid afternoon. Animals tend to be more active in the morning before the heat of the day sets in. AK lends itself to more leisurely strolling.

Both RnRC and EE have single rider lines if you are going to swap out with watching the baby. Dinosaur also allows for swap out.

It can work either way, but if I had to choose, I would do Studios first.

I think that you should do AK earlier in the day and then the Studios. The studios will be open later than AK, which will allow you to take the break you need and not worry about time constraints later in the day.

We have 2 other children, both boys, 8 and 12. We will also be taking my parents and my in-laws (their 1st trip). So we won't have to do swap for any of the rides. Any of the 3-D shows anywhere are out, the 8 yr old is terrified of those.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

One other thing, we probably won't be able to stay in any of the parks too late. Don't think the baby would be able to handle it. Depending on how much of a nap he gets. We are planning on doing wishes on friday night b/c its at 9:00, and doing spectromagic on Monday night b/c its at 9:00. Those will probably be the only 2 nights we will be out that late.

If you are only doing a few things at AK, I would go to AK first, get there right when it opens, and see what you want to see. That will probably only take you 1-2 hours, max.

After that, take a bus directly from AK to DHS and go through your day there. TSM will still have fastpasses, and you could even have time to take a break in the daytime, depending on how much you want to get done.

Enjoy your trip.

I'd go to HS first so that you can get Fast Passes for Toy Story Mania and then later move over to AK. The only things we do in AK are the Safari, Dinosaur and EE. Why can't the baby sleep in the stroller? We did that many times when our kids were tiny. We never missed a beat and since you only have 4 days in the parks it seems like it would make better use of your time. :)

Even though there is dislike for other 3-D shows, don't pass on Toy Story mania because it says 3-D. The two boys would love it. Think of it as Buzz Lightyear on steroids. With that said, I wouldn't wait an hour plus for it. have dad go over with everyone's tickets and get FP's right at rope drop.

Sorry we couldn't be of better help with a decision....there are pro's and cons to either choice.

Have a great time.
