Here’s a place I had never even heard of until last year.. definitely worth a visit if it’s road trip distance from you! The cabins were super cute too. (Pro Tip- Pick a weekend without a snowstorm;) )

Carter Caves. Olive Hill, Kentucky

We went to Key West a few years ago and one day while wandering the streets we came across a little hole-in-the-wall place that had Key Lime Pie. That was all they sold, homemade Key Lime Pie. You could buy it by the slice or whole, with meringue or without. Want pecan pie? Sorry, Key Lime only. And it was fantastic. Went back a few years later and it was gone. It was probably not a real business, just somebody selling their own stuff without proper business license, but it was good stuff. Guess that was a lucky find because it was some wonderful pie...and yellow the way Key Lime Pie is supposed to be, never green.

I can not eat green key lime pie!!
If you ever go back, try the Key Lime Pie Factory in the seaport district.. I always end up shipping so much home. Pies, salsas, marinades, cookies.. delicious!
