Apologize for the hell of a thread bump, but honestly, do we really expect anything of substance to be announced here? I mean they went super hard for 2024 d23, not getting anything major. But do we even expect something like a SSE/Epcot update or any other minor new thing like in 2023? Or will it be like brazil, with only updates on stuff we know.

The fact they are doubling the size of it makes me think there will be more substance than at 2023 but definitely think will be far less than a standard Expo / what we got in 2024

SSE or Figment update would likely be max of what we would get for new stuff - I suspect it will mostly be updates to things announced at last years Expo - more specifics of the ride vehicle for Encanto, maybe more details (model?) of Cars Land and/or Villains Land

My thoughts line up with this exactly. They have a bit too many loose ends with stuff they have laying around.

Agreed. I feel with all the smoke over the past few months of “fighting for next up”, I think probably at least get ONE announced at destination d23, though I am not going to be surprised if wrong.
Is SSE still locked into be next after test track?

Agree 100%. I don’t think a model but at least some new details on tropical America’s, and probably monstropolis details. Cars and villains I’m not sure if it’s this year, to save some new info for 2026 as necessary filler. Idk about a full model for somethings, but would be happy.

Personally, I also feel this is where we get any new info on That muppets rnrc redo, and our answer about the “creative conversations” that have been had about MV3D.

Though the rumor mill has run dry for a bit, so I have kinda been slightly wary of any somewhat older rumors from a few months ago, as stuff could’ve changed since then. So I think there could be some dark horse stuff. Just my opinions tho.

The last Destination D23, there weren't many projects announced prior to give updates about, so it was just little announcements (making up for 2022 D23). This time, I'm expecting more updates on what they've announced, plus a look at what the 2nd Cars ride will be and where Coco is going at DCA

They can give more specific details for all the projects they talked about coming last year and cover a whole DD23, at most bringing up one new revamped thing like SSE or Imagination (which I think needs to be revealed at a Florida panel if it ever happens, imagine the scene) or something else entirely.

My real interest is if they can face the home crowd and discuss Cars and Monsters details only a few months after the closure of the rides they were ducking announcing on stage during the unveil. THAT I want to see audience response to.

I'm guessing Destination D23 this year probably won't reveal anything that exciting like last year's D23, though I could see Destination D23 this year giving us updates on things like Tropical Americas, Monsters Inc Land, the Cars mini-land, and Villains Land like more info about the rides there or official announcement of what ride system like the Encanto attraction will, the stage show coming to Monster Inc Land, and the roller coaster for Villains is some of my guess to name a few.

I would personally be surprised if Disney is going to announce anything big at Destination D23 and heck maybe even D23 2026 due to how much was revealed last year

I like to remind everyone how historically Destination is a nothing burger, like D23 Brazil was. Typically there will be fluffy project details sprinkled in that we already know about.

With the one glaring exception of Destination 2023, which actually had announcements, a fair number of them. Technically the affirmation of Tropical Americas for the first time, Zootopia in tree of life, Country Bears, Test Track 3.0 and the Pirates lounge.

I think it was exceptional for a number of reasons, the least of which was desperation to counter some narratives coming out of the prior conference and funding actually starting to unlock itself.

That said, D'Amaro seems to be big into D23 conceptually. Anaheim expanded hugely. They went to Brazil and now they are using doubling language for Orlando. So while I'd traditionally side on don't get your hopes up, I actually expect there's a precedent to get some announcements. But low lying stuff. If there was more confidence in it, I'd say something like an Animal Kingdom night show. WDW is still missing a thing or two from 2026, that's largely what I'd expect we'll see. Ride reimagining versus new lands. Figment seems like something held back for the one-more-thing at the main conference. Either that or a Peoplemover in Disneyland they have the wherewithal to know would play like a Villains Announcement; those get saved for 2026.

As for this one, one of SSE, COP, Buzz, Stitch, MILF or Space seem like viable things to shake out. I think the one-more-thing is actually just letting the attendees preview Test Track 3.0.

Good point - even if a lot of casual fans will be in excited about Cars the DD23 crowd will likely be less so

Maybe they do have something like Figment or a positive development for relaxation of Muppet*Vision as the counter to turn the crowd back in a positive direction

Maybe it would be something else that’d make people angry? After last years d23, I think there is no WAY a figment 4.0 doesn’t come with some other “catch” with a retheme or closure of something else beloved.

The only "catch" I foresee is a possibility of ImageWorks closing (and not returning in any form) to accommodate a expanded track layout.
That wouldn’t be a catch at all, id be down for that! A worthy sacrifice. At this point, id be fine with any track length, I just want a good figment.

Though what i did mean initially with that statement is more along the lines of: “Yes, we finally are redoing figment, and dreamfinder is back! You asked, we listened! Also we are retheming tower of terror as well ok byeee!”
sorta a : “finally getting villains but also having cars in mk and the river going away” kinda thing, yknow?

The loss of tower of terror can’t go over any worse than removing the rivers of America .

Oh no my friend, yes it can. Tower of Terror is on the level for WDW as splash was before it closed. As much as i like muppets and think Dinoland and the rivers were cool, they were all more niche “fan favorite” attractions. Normal people know tower of terror, and it doesn't have the controversial aspects that made Tiana divided. All the GP anrgy together could have the potential to be a terrible time for Disney.

Honestly I would be more concerned for the thematic integrity of sunset boulevard than I would be upset at the loss of tower of terror. if I had to trade tower of terror for muppet vision 3d i would do it in a heartbeat. I don’t miss splash either.

I'm not getting my hopes up for any big announcements like D23, but small announcements and updates. Of everything, a new night show for AK, opening timeframe for Muppets RnRC (the big thing for 2026?), and what the 2nd, Cars ride will be. Not sure about any Epcot updates
