Quite frankly, I never think about or care what a budget is. If it’s a good attraction it’s a good attraction.

And I am sure this will be an absolute blast.
I would rather Disney build a mako clone In every park than whatever they have next for 400 million. I would rather have something high capacity and good to ride anytime at this point over some 500 million ride I gotta fight people to get on. Disney needs capacity so bad I would even like some cheap flat rides. Just give me anything at all to ride that doesn't suck.

Sorry why is there suddenly a dialogue about how this coaster won’t be better then RNRC?

I think this is going to surprise a lot of people…

I think part of it is the kind of photos they've shown of the interior, which shows mostly bare track in a show building with a couple of screen areas. IMO one of the biggest differences is the cars can rotate, unlike RNRC

Disney should bring Shanghai's Pirates here
Cloning a ride, even if it's as quality as Shanghai's Pirates is not the solution. There needs to be multiple projects that are all new and interesting in order for Disney to fully catch up with Universal now. Especially with the upcoming Epic Universe and Nintendo plans.
As much as people hate on IP rides, Pokemon is the world's most profitable franchise and it will be hard for ANY of Disney's IPs to even hold a candle to it. Especially now that Marvel fatigue is starting to hit the general population.
The main worry though, is that by the time Disney realizes it really needs to step up, it will be too late.

Because the photos of the interior are over a year old from before they installed any set pieces?

I meant as a reaction to the Zelda boat ride plans specifically. Yes, Disney needs a few extra attractions. They need another high quality, high capacity dark ride in DAK for example.

They need an Indiana Jones shoot the chute Temple escape either at DHS or AK.

That’s the part I don’t understand, there is a limit to the amount of times I want to do non interactive dark rides a day, any more after 2ish times in a day and it’s just not going to thrill me.

On the other hand, I have ridden on Magnum XL 200 at least 500 times in my life and that’s an under count, it’s probably closer to 1000 then 500 (20 years of going to Cedar Point, most multiple times a year with an average of at least 5 laps per day.) It has no theming, but is scenically located on the shores of Lake Erie, I have my favorite seat (back car, first row, right side, due to leg length) and I know exactly where every pop of negative air and positive g is, and the only thing that is variable on that ride is if the mid course break is on. If I could fit that coaster in my backyard and could afford to operate it I would ride that ride every day and still never get sick of it, because I love the ejector air it has.

The attraction to coasters are the forces they exert on your body, while there is absolutely an added thrill to not knowing when they come, even after you have ridden a ride to know its every querk the forces still thrill.

When I talk about being jaded it’s because I’ve ridden enough rides that I can usually anticipate what’s going to happen a moment before it does even on a ride I haven’t ridden. Veliciocoaster’s second half is taken with such speed, and has so many unique elements that I couldn’t anticipate that first time. While the ride is too intense for me to do a 30 ride in a row marathon (without getting off) like I’ve done on Magnum once that thing is on express, I anticipate it joining MIB and the Mummy on my “there is never to many laps I can do on this ride” list, which usually results in 3-5 laps per day.
Not to side step too much, but do you watch POV of coasters you haven't ridden and get an idea of how it would feel as well? We've gone on so many that when we can't anticipate the feel it makes for a great first ride.

No, I try to stay away.

That said I’ve been to every US Cedar Fair park, Universal and Disney Park, every Sea Wold Park, the independent heavy hitters (Hershey, Kennywood, Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, Holiday World) and most of the major Six Flags Parks (SFGAdv being the last major park in the US I haven’t been to.)

In my opinion, I think unless Disney has some super secret plans, Nintendo alone is going to dominate. We have been a Disney family for a very long time. What's the one thing that my son wants to do? Go to super Nintendo land. No, I can't wait to go back to Disney. But when is Nintendo opening.... In some respects, it is too late. Disney has treated video games like some second rate fad. Not like an industry that is larger than any other media. It's a risky gamble to bank on your nostalgia like they are. But maybe that Disney bubble is unbreakable.

Nintendo is probably the one property outside of the big media companies that could support an entire park because it has multiple franchises that could support entire theme park lands (Mario, Zelda, Pokémon) along with plenty of franchises that could support their own ride (Metroid, Splatoon, F-Zero, DK, Animal Crossing, etc.).

Honestly I think the Big N is going to eventually outshine even Potter in Universal’s catalog, they only need to not mess up the Mario movie, if they do Nintendo can be very fickle and could back out.

It will take some time, maybe 15 years, but the path they are on is headed straight for the iceberg.
Absolutely anything can happen between now and 15 years from now!

As for TWDC’s path, it’s more like a moth than a cruise ship. The path changes instantly and often.

I have no idea what’s going to happen tomorrow, but as a pure guess, TWDC will be celebrating its 100th birthday in 2023. I am confident it will also celebrate its 115th and 125th at least.
