Does anyone know the facts about these dolphins? Are they rescued, captured, or bred?

I know some are recue and bred there, but I cannot say if its all of them.

My point is people are begging on parks mostly Sea World who gives absolute tremendous care for animals, yet numerous parks including Disney parks have animal attractions with animals out of their natural habitat.

As well as people who keep pets such as snakes birds fish iguanas etc.

Some people need to ask themselves why do they get a pet. Then ask why do theme parks aquariums zoos do the same thing.

A lot of these places even without the attraction feature do a great good for these animals natural habitat or not.

Y'all people act like sea world is out to hunt. Sea World and Disney are always releasing animals back to the wild, always. They know how important habitat is.

Let these documentaries enslave you if you want boycott sea world and all other marine zoos and parks your not hurting the good cause of any of these companies..
I think you're totally misunderstanding what everyone i saying.

We aren't saying there is a huge problem or they are on the hunt. We are just talking about this particular dolphin and how it's actions were concerning. It would be worse if everyone ignored it. We aren;t on a witch hunt for Disney/ Sea world, we are just saying that we have noticed signs of depression in a dolphin.

We aren't claiming to be professionals, we are merely showing a concern for the mammal. If someone said they had seen a wild dolphin do this, everyone would be just as concerned.

After a Google search I found a free the Disney World Dolphins site -

"Today, four male dolphins are held captive at Disney's Epcot park, Ranier (captured from the wild), Khyber (Keebler), Calvin and Malabar."

They don't say if Disney captured Ranier, if he was sold to Disney by the people captured him, a rescue or how Disney ended up with him.

We saw Clyde and Malomar this past September, and they seemed fine to me. They're keeping their energy up, I guess.:cat: I didn't see anything wrong w/ what they were doing. We do need to keep animals in captivity unfortunately to do research IMHO.

We took the UNDiscovered Future World tour and were told that one of the dolphins was not playing nice with others. In fact had almost killed a shark. Butting and holding it down so it couldn't move and breath.

I know the The Baltimore Aquarium ended up with one of Disney's dolphins that also didn't play nice. It was attacking the other dolphins and holding them under the water.

Ok. I am going by what I was told by a trainer at WDW.................which can still be correct......1 caught in the wild, unknown if it was injured or ill and rescued. then 3 others, unknown if they were bred, or rescued.

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong but isn't that impossible? The dolphin enclosure is completely separated from the rest of the tank and the only sealife that can come and go from both sides are the small fish.

Nope. They are all together. Until someone misbehaves. I don't know about "all" the dolphins though or if the Dolphins in Depth are always kept separate.

Just curious...if you aren't a professional, how do you know what a depressed dolphin looks like?

Every time I visited, the area for the Dolphins had a large chain link type fence separating it from the rest of the cage. I wonder if that was just for when they did the shows though?
