I've done the same thing....I've hesitated when a category of room showed available thinking a different discount would show up and the next time I would look the room was gone.
So far I think the two most difficult rooms to book using a discount are garden wing standard at CR and standard view at BC.

I was so angry this last time, I reached out to Mousesavers. Not like I'd get any kind of $ or anything, but it would be nice if a site reporting discounts actually reported them correctly. I've never tried to get a room discount at BC, but good to know since I'm still up in the air over BC vs. BW for our potential next trip.

We've done BW twice now, once in a regular room and once in a studio buying points. I really don't like the studios much...seems like the space is too close quarters compared to the regular rooms and I like two beds versus the couch with one bed for the 4 of us. In some ways I still like the BC over the BW because it is absolutely the closest to the International Gateway, the QS at the BC has the best chocolate croissants and I have two experts in my family who swear this, I'm never late for ADR's for Cape May, and I love the lounges at BC/YC. But hands down for service BW wins in my mind. And the quiet pools with the hot tubs are so much better than the ones at BC. Finally we prefer the big pool and that pool bar over the one at BC. Easier to watch the kids, we like the slide better, and the pool CM's are more fun. Personally I think I've decided I like the EPCOT area better than the monorail resorts from an adult standpoint...

So, an easy walk from BW or BC seemed like the best choice. I like the room décor at BC better than BW, but I like the common areas at BW better and we have much better odds of getting a room with a true balcony at BW. I know many people will say "you can't really go wrong with either one," but since we weren't happy with our stay at YC...I find myself obsessing over the little details when considering this decision and even falling back on the Contemporary at times since I know we'll be happy there.

OK - rule #1 for ANY class of WDW Hotel...

The "Rack Price" is a complete myth. It's right up there with the SRP of a new car, from the manufacturer. Once in a while, WDW lands a sucker who will pay rack .

Instead, WDW inflates the published price of everything, then discounts it to death to fool you into thinking you are making out like a bandit... "LOOK Honey - we are so LUCKY! I got 30% OFF our WDW HOTEL!!!!". Dear Bambi - no, you didn't... WDW gives anyone with a brain 30% off, on a routine basis... it's actually a VERY GOOD, VERY OLD marketing trick: think of all of those furniture stores with perpetual "50% OFF" sales .

So - check mousesavers.com often... here, you will get good data on the latest WDW discounts that WDW swore they were going to get rid of....

Oh - an addition: Sandy and I ALSO got tired of "going to Reno" every time we went to WDW... lurking for so-called "discounts", agonizing over when WDW would throw us a bone... ENOUGH! We became DVC members.

If given a choice between BW and CR I'd take CR every time.* I didn't enjoy the BW as much and it was nice to have so much just down below.

OMG a childless WDW trip! You better not let your girls know where you are going without them. I would go to WDW more often than I do now if I could figure out how to visit without the grandkids figuring it out...I said something when we were there last time over Thanksgiving in front of the granddaughter about just PawPaw and I coming for a weekend during F&W and staying at the Swan or Dolphin and she started shedding real tears..put me in my place and removed that idea from my head.
Honestly the biggest thing about BC that could be an issue is the rooms are paper thin...you really do hear everything in the hallway. Now I can tune the entire world out and it did not bother me a bit, but my daughter mentioned it and I had read about it on the boards back in 2012 and on trip advisor and it really is true, that is not an exaggeration.
One thing I learned about the BW too is if you don't like the room they put you in, just go right back up before you even call for suitcases and they will change you. They are the nicest people there. When I stayed at BC I had requested close to laundry and a balcony and that was what I got. But the BWI they put me in the north 40 hallways from everything and I was very unhappy that first trip and couldn't wait to get to the POLY. The second trip to BW when we stayed DVC I was like hey is this room close to an elevator because if it is not I can tell you I am going to be unhappy...and 20 minutes later they had the room changed around and we were happy with the location. You will only find nicer CM's at AKL I think over BW. BW has really nice people working the front desk and concierge.

They lost pretty much all interest in the trip at that point...although, they are starting to ask things like "why aren't you taking us back to Disney? We need to show our Disney side!"

Paper thin walls could be in an issue, but I usually travel with ear plugs in an attempt to drown out DH's snoring. Good to hear that the CMs at BW were so nice and accommodating. Definitely agree on the CMs at AKL... they were awesome

Well I am jealous, I know I would miss my little travel buddies at WDW but a couple of days solo or with Jim doing stuff of our choosing at our pace would be an awesome trip...

I do have that worry. While I miss the girls any time we travel without them, going to WDW without the kids is not like going to New Orleans or Vegas without the kids. I think I'll be fine while we're touring the WS and doing all the things the kids just wouldn't do or really enjoy, but I have a feeling I'll feel that void if I let DH sleep in and hit MK. i.e. seeing all those little girls going to BBB and CRT.

Yes that would be me...I would have to stay away from Character dining because it would make me miss them too much.
But you know, your kids are not deprived, WDW has a lot of things for adults to enjoy sans the kiddos and some grown up time in the world is not a bad thing.

HUGE reason we're going to DL this year...the amount we can save just by going West and the ability to stay "off site" and pay so much less calls to the logical side in me (over my desperate love for WDW). I know we're still getting a quality, amazing park, amazing vacation...but saving on the hotel, food (being able to eat off site) and a drive to see beach sunsets the nights we don't go to fireworks hahaha

Can't wait for the year we're able to return to WDW, but going to enjoy DL in the meantime for the next years to come!
