Hi there,
We are going to Disney in 6 days! woot!:sohappy:
we got the deluxe dining.
Question I have is, Can the table service credits be used for quick service instead.
We only plan on having 2 table service meals(already reservation at Sci-Fi and Ohanas), due to the party size(12 of us), and dont want to plan our day around reservations.
Thanks!!

I am pretty sure that you can.

Just out of curiosity....Why on earth did you get the deluxe dining plan if you are only going to do 2 TS meals? You would be better off with no dining plan at all.

The deluxe dining plan gives you 3 credits per nights stay - you choose what you want to use them for - table service or counter service.

At roughly $70 per person per night, you usually get your best value when you eat at table service....

We got deluxe because my parents and brother may be eating out at table service more than my husband, kids and I. The package was booked all together w/12 of us.
Plus, we wanted it all prepaid before we left.;)

Earlier this year when I was planning our trip in September on the Free Dining promotion, I did calculations on the Deluxe Dining Plan based on how my friends and I would use it vs. the regular Dining Plan. (Because you can upgrade the Free Dining to the Deluxe by paying the difference in price)
We broke even on the upgrade if every day we used the breakfast credit to double-up the dinner credit for a Signature restaurant, and then used Snack credits for breakfast items.

And by break-even I mean that the value of additional food that we got on the Deluxe plan was pretty much equal to the extra money paid to upgrade to Deluxe from the regular Dining Plan.

I bet they could've worked it for you to get two different reservation packages so one group could go with no dining plan and the others could. That's a huge chunk of change to pay out and not use.

I just came back from a trip with the deluxe dining plan. We went to Jiko, Cali Grill, Boma, liberty tree, ohana, tokyo dining and 50s prime time. It was definitely worth it for us. We didn't pay more than 25 bucks at each restaurant. If you are only doing 2 places it might not be worth it.

When we used a counter service instead, they gave us 2 extra drinks and I think they give you more snack credits but I'm not sure because I didn't keep track of my snacks....lol but using a counter instead of a table will give you extra stuff...

The best part about it is that me and my boyfriend are big appetizer people and it was covered under the deluxe.....

ohana doesn't have appetizers so you might be better off with the regular plan

I was thinking of downgrading, but what if we change our minds when we get there? Somedays my husband eats more than others and may use it.
Who knows?
Plus, my parents are using 2 credits one night for dinner, so I wouldnt want to change it on them.
Plus, if we DID donwgrade, wouldnt we loose the Sci Fi dinner?

The bad thing is you might not have the choice to eat at a table service restaurant even if you wanted to at this point. Table service dining can be quite hard to come by last minute at WDW and walk ups are as rare as hen's teeth anymore. It also sounds like you will be traveling the week of Christmas and New Years which is the busiest week of the year at WDW.

we will be there Dec 17-Dec 23
Only have Sci-fi and Ohanas for breakfast booked.
I think next time we go, we'll probably just go with the basic dining.
I was hoping for more luck with ADR, but didnt happen. :(

I don't know why you would lose your ADR's. You can eat at those places even if you don't have the dining plan. Plus think of it like this. Since you've ALREADY paid for the dining plan, cancelling will put a CREDIT balance on your key card. You can use those to pay for other things like souvenirs, other dining options, etc. I just think you're gonna come no where near breaking even on the dining plan with the options you've stated so far.

Since it's so close to travel I don't know if there's a modification fee specifically for the dining plan or not. Doesn't hurt to call and ask though. And even so you're going to be there long enough that even with paying the fee you could still come out ahead.

As others have said, you will probably lose money on the deluxe plan eating mainly counter services. I suggest the counter service dining plan and paying for your two table service meals. The deluxe plan is $70 a day. You will be hard pressed to make that cost up eating many CS and only 2 TS.

2 meals may be exchanged for 1 select Grand Gathering Experience
(must be part of a Grand Gathering Group Reservation)

Anyone know if the above is stil in effect?
thanks! I'd like to take advantage if it is.
