So I'm starting to plan my next for this comming July. There will be four adults in the room and we want the most space we can get in a deluxe standard room. I understand that most of the deluxe resorts have daybeds in their rooms, are they comfy? Has a group of four adults out the been given a deluxe room with a daybed or have you been given the standard queen? Thanks in advance for all of your advice :)

If I'm not mistaken, the Polynesian has the largest standard rooms on property. All of the rooms there have two queens and a daybed. We found the daybed to be very comfortable. The rooms are huge. We are very spoiled now after recently staying there for the first time. It would be very hard to go back to a smaller room! Plus you just can't beat the location of the Poly!

Here are some pics of the rooms: http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/_Rooms.html

*If you do decide to stay there, take note that the rooms in the Tahiti, Rapa Nui and Tokelau longhouses are a tad bit bigger and have an extra chair. This is one of the many reasons we requested the Tokelau longhouse for our trip, and we were very happy with that choice. Put your request in when you book the trip. They can't guarantee it, but there is a good chance you will get the longhouse you request. The site I linked you to above is a great resource for deciding which longhouse to request.

We stayed at the Poly in December with 3 adults with no problem. The guy who slept on the day bed had no complaints. I think the Epcot area deluxe resorts also have day beds, but I'm not sure how big the rooms are. The only thing about Poly was that there was only one sink, but we managed fine.

Poly's location is awesome for using the monorail. You can easily walk to the TTC to get to Epcot without having to ride the monorail and switch.

Have a great trip!

Poly does have the biggest standard rooms on property. Some of the rooms have one sink, some two, check out the link to Tikiman above, he knows all.

Another benefit would be to request the ground floor. That way if it gets too crowded in the room, you can "spill out" to the patio.
The Poly rooms in the older longhouses don't even have balconies on the second floor, so it pays to do your homework.

We put our family of 5 in a poly standard ground floor room last year and had plenty of space.
I have also stayed at the GF in a dormer room with ONE other adult and felt crowded
Stayed at Beach club, bigger than GF, but didn't hold a candle to the POLY

Good Luck

Actually Polynesian and Contemporary have the largest standard rooms. Many Disney sites list room square footage (including Disney’s own page) and the numbers are wrong most of the time. We actually measured them for research to add to the web pages and have some documentation of the original plans used to build the rooms. GF has some large rooms but there seems to be a few different sizes of rooms at the GF. The YC, BC and Boardwalk rooms are a nice size but the day beds are not long enough to have an adult or larger kid sleep on like the day beds at the Polynesian and Contemporary. The standard rooms at the AKL and WL are the smallest of the Deluxe rooms and do not sleep 5.

Hope that helps.

im honestly pretty biased coz i looove the contemporary ... when i win the lottery, im going to live there :animwink: its the hotel my parents always took me to when we went to disney and it isnt a disney vacation for me till i arrive there. its beautiful .. its on the monorail ... room service is awesome. love the views ... i guess it is less *magical* than the poly but to me, it just great.

I would suggest that your decision also would be based on how you plan on spending your vacation.

If you spend much of your time in MK, Contemporary allows you just to walk over and back (great if you stay till park closing)

Contemporary, Poly, and GF offer monorail to MK and Epcot. Also a nice convenience.

If you spend a lot of time in Epcot, you can walk from Yacht/Beach or Boardwalk. I prefer Beach there.

From a theme standpoint, Poly is always special

While WL and AKL are great, they are a bit smaller, and do not offer quite the transport convenience.

What are the rooms like at the Contemporary and the Boardwalk? Is the Animal Kingdom resort really that far away from everything?

The Epcot area resorts do offer day beds BUT they are very small and will accomodate a small child. We actually ran into a problem with this on one of my trips to the Boardwalk. I booked the room with 5 people in it and they put into effect the change in the daybed size a couple of days later so when we arrived at the resort we had this tiny daybed that even my 16 year old who is petite could not fit on. They ended up having to bring in a rollaway.

Go with one of the monorail resorts, they will accomodate your party.

I agree with the earlier posts about the Polynesian, it has plenty of space. We had 4 adults staying on the ground floor of the Tahiti building. Best possible location. 3 minute walk to the Ticket and Transportation. Two sinks. Large standard day bed. Best possible location. View of the Water Parade too. The only drawback is the at the most 5 minute walk to the lobby. But we found it was much simpler to walk to the TTC because of the options of Magic Kingdom Express monorail, boat ride to Magic Kingdom, and Monorail to EPCOT. The express monorail is much quicker than one leaving from Polynesain lobby. Does not stop at the Grand Floridian. I would have to say with a large party looking for a priority of space, it has to be at the Polynesian and in my opinion in the Tahiti building* was the most recently refurbished building as well.

I like the Contemporary and I think it has a lot of Disney magic. It has great views with large rooms and that Disney Tomorrowland feel to it.
