Delta changed my flight.....again

The first change they made, was no big deal. They simply pushed the flight back an hour.

This change, I called and told them "No dice". They changed my return flight home from a direct flight to a non-direct with a 60 minute layover in Atlanta.

Needless to say, they credited me and I rebooked with Jet Blue.

one thing I'm worried about...

We're heading to Disneyland for a week in Dec 09...we haven't booked our flight yet since you can only book a year in advanced. But airline prices better start coming down soon. Fuel is down about 40% from the highs that were the cause for so many airlines raising their prices and are the prices are expected to keep falling for some time. I have this feeling that airline prices will fall slightly...but nowheres close to where they should be.

Now I'm not a frequent flyer...so I don't know how the trend currently looks. Has anyone noticed if flights are starting to get alittle cheaper yet? What should I expect for roundtrip airfare for 2 from Tampa to LAX or John Wayne?

I use to fly Delta all the time but not anymore. Its not because they changed flights but because i can't get direct flights from Newark. I had to spend the night in Atlanta once because of Delta and I dont plan to do it again.

I'm not mad, as it didn't end up badly. I simply rebooked with a credit I had on Jet Blue. Had no other flights been available, I'd have been mad.

When I first called, the agent said it's non-refundable, so we can't credit you. Yeah, I don't think so. Supervisor please...

ugh....similar situation recently with a finance charge from Bank of America...except the Supervisor was a jerk off too.... :brick:Mr Supervisor acknowledged that I have had to get the wrongfully charged finance charge reversed every month for the past 5 months, but apparently I had used up all of my "courtesy credits." No more banking with them now... Mr. Supervisor also didn't realize that I talk to people and so far they have lost 6 other customers...can't credit it my left foot...

Depends when in December you're going. If it's the first half of the month, you should see airfares in the $300 range for a roundtrip, perhaps less if you're willing to change planes. If it's Xmas time, best of luck getting something for around $400 or so.

But really, you needn't book the 11 months in advance that you are allowed to do so, unless you see a fare that is really out of sight. No reason to give an airline your money that far in advance on a non-refundable fare. 6 months out should have plenty of availability no matter when you want to travel, with less chance of the airline changing the schedule on you a thousand times.

The drop in oil prices back to $80/barrel, even if it holds, isn't likely to result in a huge drop in airfares, because the airlines have cut back on capacity and will only add the capacity back very very slowly, because they are cautious now.

I was about to say the samething kimmychad...Southwest is definately the way to go.

Normally I agree. I chose Jet Blue because I had a credit, the flight was actually cheaper, and I like the TV's on the planes.

If I ever feel as though I might need to change plans, SW is the only option.

I've been watching fares for specific flights to MCO on US Airways for months now. They go up and down apparently willy-nilly, from $388 to $298 to $238 and back to $298 this week, although only 22-25% of seats are sold.

With so many unsold seats, why would the price go up? I suppose some of it could be due to the price the airline paid for fuel (usually a futures price set in advance for a period of time). Although oil prices have come down, the fuel the airline is currently using may have be purchased at a much higher rate. Still, some airlines (Virgin Atlantic for one) have lifted their fuel surcharges, so it's hard to tell what's driving the market right now.

My dates are 50+ days away, so I have about a month to wait it out, but it's soooo stressful. These same flights were $128 for nearly the same dates last year. I guess those days are gone. I was just hoping for something under $200 (it's less than 500 miles).

I have frequest flier miles, but it would take 37,500 miles and industry experts advise against using rewards miles for flights under 500 miles or under $350. Mine are under both.

Delta

We flew Delta two years ago. When they changed our flight out of Orlando we had two departure times:veryconfu I had to call several times to talk to someone that has English as a first language. It actually turned out better because we got a direct flight where before we had a layover in Memphis. Guess you gotta watch those guys!

I swear I've heard more horror stories about Delta than all the other airlines combined. We fly Southwest, I don't think we can get Jet Blue out of Pittsburgh to Orlando. Glad you got it all worked out!

When Airtran pulled the same shenanigans on me in August for our December flights from Boston - Orlando (they changed our nonstop from Boston to MCO to a stop w/a layover in NY), the agent actually offered me a full refund, before I could even ask. I said, "Yes, refund, please" I didn't book a flight with stops and had no intention of keeping the reservation once they changed it. I promptly re-booked with Jetblue. So far, so good with those flights.....

*fingers crossed*

We use to fly Delta out of Logan all the time but no more.
They would change the Time ,The size of Plane and everytime they did that I would have to call and rebook my seats.Eventually ending up near the rear of the plane when I started in the front?
I Absolutely love Jet Blue now,When they have a change they book my same seats without me having to call and talk to someone in India about my flight to orlando!
Just My Rant about Delta.
Too Bad we do not have Southwest here.

Technically you have Southwest...as both Manchester and Providence have them...but I can see not wanting to drive the hour to get there.

I just checked my US Airways flights again and the priced droped $70 since noon from $298 to $228. That's still $100 more than I paid last year, but I am considering buying now so that I can stop worrying about it.

Still - no additional seats have sold at the reduced fares, so they should go down some more....

That would be logical, perhaps. But I have never been able to figure out the logic of airfares!
