I imagine they won't. Apart from multiple-park favorites like Mansion and Pirates, most of the big animatronic-heavy rides have been phased out. Maintenance of these attractions is just too costly, and the pace is too slow for modern sensibilities.

Perhaps Disney will take another look at the "Time Chasers" concept to turn Spaceship Earth into a thrill ride of some sort.

It will fit just like it always has fit. It is a classic and an Icon. The day it goes away is the day that I mark on my calendar as the end of my Disney Adventures.

If not a thrill ride, perhaps something screen-based? The building would lend itself to something like that, and the upper level, as has been recently pointed out, is already basically a planetarium.

Either way, I wouldn't get too attached to what's there now, or anything at Epcot without current sponsorship or obvious merch tie-ins.

I couldn't care less about Test Track or Mission Space, but I hope nothing happens to Spaceship Earth or Living with the Land. I love both of those attractions.

I think it will still work. The ride narration could say something about discovering our past and who we are as a civilization- that would fit with a discoveryland title. I imagine if they do rebrand future world they will think long and hard about how to tie in SSE. I can't imagine a world without SSE....

Or they could make it into the history of the food and wine festival where elsa and olaf pass around moldy cheese / stale wine of past festivals.

Joking aside , I think itll be updated in about 2021-24 with more screens but with the same message . To be honest , anything is better than the finale they have now ( nothing can beat the irons version tho ).

Side note :Living with the land on the other hand will never die and I epcxept it to last a very long time.

It dosnt have to fit anywhere. Its The Park Weenie, The Icon, The historic Symbol of EP. Disney doesnt have to change a thing and its going to fit. Its recognizable as the Welcoming sight to the park, thats all it has to convey to guests.

True, but unfortunately it's only the exterior of the building that is iconic. Disney likely regards the interior attraction as fair game.

With the upcoming changes to Future World, one question I have is this-- how will SSE fit in? I love Spaceship Earth, and I would hate for it to be closed, but looking at the upcoming changes, as well as what is currently there, SSE will stick out like a sore thumb. It will be the only attraction left that discusses the future, and as many of us know, the name Future World is not long for this world. The rest of the Future World attractions are mainly geared towards a "discovery" or "adventure" theme now, while SSE is the sole attraction left from the glory days of EPCOT, excluding Living With The Land (which will most likely fit in with whatever the new theme is). I am just curious as to how they will make SSE fit in thematically without replacing it.

Disclaimer: Spaceship Earth is my favorite attraction of all time and I would be devastated if it closed.
Well they never changed the title Tomorrowland and it definitely does not fit its name anymore.

I would also be devastated if SE was closed or changed drastically.

It will "fit" in just like it always has.

Look, all we know about the "new" Future World is that it will have GOTG instead of UoE, and a redesigned spine.
Removing or retheming SSE because of an added IP would just scream of shortsightedness and a complete and utter disregard for everything Epcot stands for.

Time Chasers got cancelled because the way the building is structured, they just physically can't throw a thrill ride in there.

Not uber thrilling but a Time Chasers premise could be realized with new vehicles. It wouldn't be a full-fledged thrill ride but it could have thrill aspects with a complete replacement of the vehicle type to allow for independent pitch, rotation, seat rumble, etc. As to how it will fit in the new Future World -- just fine so long as they amp up the space/time travel plot.

Sadly it seems TDO have already gone way past having any regard for what Epcot stands for :(

Oh I know. I keep hoping they'll come to their senses, or at least implement something that shows they still "get it"...but absolutely nothing done by the current administration has given me even a glimmer of hope.
