Thank you! No new trip in the works right now. Phil says not until Star Wars is open, and frankly, I'm so broke after this last trip that it might be a little while. :(
Thank you, and I agree about Phil. I think he's just saying he hates it so he gets me to pay for the trips.
ok we're going back to plan A with a bit of a twist. You're going to send Phil and myself for the 5 for shot place, I'll not only get him to agree to another trip but I'll get him on video agreeing to pay for it it:D

STUMBLING ON SAFARI - PART FIVE - Let's go to EPCOT and drown

So okay, what next? Ummm....remembering, remembering.....Ahhhh yes. We decided to go to EPCOT.

To give you some specifics, we arrived around 3, checked in around 4, and we headed to EPCOT around 5. Our plan was to do a little bit of the Food and Wine Festival and then dinner at Chefs de France. I also had a Fast Pass for Soarin', but since Phil hates Soarin' and calls it Feet'n (due to all the stinky bare feet in front of him while he rides), there was never any danger that Phil was gonna encourage me to make this Fast Pass. He didn't, and we didn't. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

But off to EPCOT we go.

Here is Phil, looking particularly happy:

But yet....rain.....

That's the view that you get while waiting for a bus at Animal Kingdom Lodge. In the rain.

Annnyway, we finally got to EPCOT (the AKL buses were a bit of an issue), and here we are!

His arms!!! Who ate his arms?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

View attachment 241409
His youth!!!! Who ate his youth?!?!?!?

Annnnyway....what should we do first? Spaceship Earth of course. Here is the Disney Hater looking very un-hateful:

I love that picture, but yeah yeah yeah, enough of this Future World stuff. It's time for some food and wine tastings in World Showcase. PS - It is still a rainy mess. But cheers!!

I have absolutely no idea what he is eating or drinking, but please note how small everything is. Just sayin'.

Cheers?

WDW Magic is telling me no more pictures in this post so I will continue this very soon.
I'd just like to point out that the Disney Hater VOLUNTEERED for this trip, if I remember correctly. Weren't you planning to go by yourself and caught him looking at deals? Me thinks he doth protest too much. And as for Feetin' he could request row 1 so there were no stinky feet in front of him.

PART SIXTEEN - In which I get on my soapbox, rant and rave, and possibly lose half of this thread's readers

(WARNING - THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS A SPECIFIC POLITICAL VIEW AND IT DOES NOT FAVOR THE CURRENT PRESIDENT - PLEASE SKIP TO CHAPTER SEVENTEEN - OR ABANDON SHIP IF YOU PREFER MR T. - no hard feelings if you do)

This is the part where I am going to post a picture that I posted on the political board, and when I did that, the people down there ripped me a new one, and as a result, I decided never to post or visit down there again. And as a result of that, my blood pressure has been great lately! Hurray!!!

BUT - I just want to warn you that if you are a Trump supporter, you are totally going to object to this section of the trip report, and I would strongly urge you to just skip it, and go straight to part seventeen. Seriously. There will be drinks and smiles and Billy Ocean there, and you won't have to hear my rant. Or, you can just decide that I am a horrible person and never read my posts again, and that is fine too.

Okay......so...........I hope all the people who should skip to Chapter 17 did so. And if so, here is what happened next:

So, there we were, minding our own business, drinking around the world, and having basically a really amazing time.

I come to Walt Disney World to escape the real world. Don't you?

Phil comes because he is dragged. Or so he says. But I think once we are there, we both want to feel like we are insulated from the insanity of the current times.

I'm just going to come out and say it. We are not Trump supporters, to put it mildly.

This was me, after voting for Hilary. She was a flawed candidate, but at least she would not make everyone nervous that she was going to blow up the world.

This is a reminder of the protest that popped up in Union Square station after the orange nightmare won - post-it notes of love and anger and hope from New Yorkers:

Boy, this trip has everything. Flashbacks, controversy, etc. Zzzzzzz......Annnnyway, flash forward to EPCOT a few weeks ago.......

There we are, drinking beer, and enjoying the beautiful day, all then all of a sudden, I see a group of people wearing all sorts of Trump memorabilia- Make America Great Again caps, shirts, and jackets, and this lady, who was right in front of me, and who I do not feel at all bad for photographing:
View attachment 244155
This is why the people on the political board felt it was okay to rip me a new one -

They told me how "classy" (read - sarcastic) I was for taking a picture of a woman without her permission, and of course, I had to remind them that class is my middle name, having locked myself out of a hotel room naked and all, among other things. I also reminded them that this is a world of cameras, and people were snapping my picture without permission just last night when I was dressed as a pirate. If I did not want to be photographed, I could have dressed as a tourist visiting Orlando, and then no one would have taken my photo. If Miss Pink Trump hat didn't want attention, she could have left it in the car.

And it got very heated on that board, and it's not worth going into here except to say that if you decide to come into a theme park bringing your political baggage as your outfit, you are basically asking to send a message and be some sort of center of attention. Therefore, the only thing I feel bad about is that I only got a picture of her and not the rest of her group. They looked like a float in a Trump parade.

Is that appropriate for a theme park where people go to escape reality? I seriously do not think so.

And before anyone says it, yes, I have done this:

View attachment 244156
Yes, that says "Gay Days" on my shirt in very small print - But that is on a predetermined weekend and the park is full of gay visitors - And finally, homophobes are welcome to take pictures of me and post them on their blogs or whatever, and say "look at this disgusting queer who is ruining Disney" or whatever they want to say, because I know I am not disgusting, and sticks and stones and all of that.

Annnnnnnnnnnyway........now that three quarters of the audience have departed the theatre, we will resume the drinking around the world in the very next post, assuming that I didn't just get myself banned for life. ;)
I'd like to point out that EVERYONE posts pictures of people without their permission...you post a ride picture, it's not just you in the picture....there are other people, too. You take a picture of the crowd...there are a ton of people in that picture. You can't realistically avoid pictures of other people in a busy public place. And wearing a political statement like that is meant to rile people up. You KNOW wearing something like that, that some people are going to have strong feelings one way or the other. If you don't want to be associated with it, don't wear it.

PART SEVENTEEN - Let's wrap this up!

Hi again! Sorry about the long delay. How about a little (very little) Italian wine? Cheers!

View attachment 244930

That's right, we're continuing just as if I didn't take a 9,000 day break from posting. So, if you recall, we were in the middle of a little drinky-around-the-worldy type thing, and on we go! But first, a stop at the Hops and Barley (Food and Wine) booth:

View attachment 244931

Phil decided that he had to have a lobster roll:
View attachment 244932
They look a little disgusting to me, but Phil Monster liked it fine enough, except that this guy was stalking him:

View attachment 244933
Phil was going to give him some lobster until we saw this:
View attachment 244934
Boy, Phil gets harassed by everyone - drunken red wine truckers; lobster loving birds; who's going to harass him next? An old lady in a pink jumpsuit? Hmmmmmmm.

And PS - I am still waiting for someone to harass me! Here I am. Harass away! Ummm...err....uhh...never mind....in the meantime...........here's Phil getting harassed again by the bird. If we all pray hard enough, maybe it will fly in front of his face and peck his eyes out. ;)

View attachment 244936

View attachment 244935
Okay anyway, we finally had enough of Phil's new friend, and we journeyed on...to here:

View attachment 244937
Oh wait....that's just the gift shop of America. The Hops and Barley thing was right outside, so I guess we didn't get too far before the next drink, but at least they are thimble sized....kind of like me, next to Phil.

Running out of picture room on this post, so I'll be back in just a couple of minutes with more.
Do not underestimate those birds, man!! One of them stalked us at Typhoon Lagoon, landed on our table and stole the fish right off DS's plate and flew off. They are bold little thieves!!

Ha! That is hysterical. Sorry. And thanks for all your posts. Very appreciated. ;)
Haha!! Yes, it's funny NOW, but it wasn't so funny when I had a very angry 8 year old screaming at a bird! Fortunately, he had 3 pieces of fish, he had already eaten one, and the bird only got one. But still...those things are sneaky!
And of COURSE I am posting...like I'm going to miss a Buddy Thomas TR, even if I'm a bit late! I really hate 2017.

Go fund me thing? I don't know anything about that, unfortunately. :) I'm gonna try to save some $$ in the new year, but there is no way PhilMonster is going to let me go back to WDW before we go somewhere else first. I guess he has a point. Grrr....

I'm trying to think of the cheapest place to take him so I have more $$ for the greedy mouse, LOL. Any ideas? I'm thinking New Orleans, although knowing me, I may not get outa there alive, ha.
Empire State Building and the 5 for shot place:D

I burst out laughing (again). Sorry, Buddy, that you, too, didn't get harassed, stalked, or end up on pink lady's dance card!!

A picture is worth a thousand words . . . :hilarious:

Agreed. Never a cop around when you need one! ;) My "guess" is his 4-legged companion was a drug-sniffing canine. Beagles are often used for this, due to their acute sense of smell. They can smell the stuff even if it's wrapped up and hidden. Airports use them a lot in the luggage areas in particular, but I've also seen them at work in train stations, etc.
Not to gross everyone out but another extremely common use for beagles in the industry is for sniffing out bed bugs (many times just to be preventive!). Anyway, awesome trip report. Thanks for sharing!
