As representatives of the thousands of fans of Walt Disney, we formally request that we may have a new forum dedicated to the life and legacy of the man himself: Mr. Walt Disney.

As a wrap up to the 100 Years Celebration, we ask that any establishment of this forum may continue the celebration of this excellent hero, who surely deserves a place above all else on these prestigious forums.

Sincerely,

THE UNDERSIGNED

not that I don't like the idea...

But don't we talk about Walt's legacy and such on a daily basis here? Just because it isn't what he exactly created we do talk about his creations, and what they are brining about now. I don't think we need a forum totally devoted to him, since there isn't much out there that we can talk about that isn't covered in another forum.

Don't the first two letters in "WDWMagic" stand for Walt Disney? Isn't this whole site a tribute to the man and what he inspired?

And by the way Grizz, to quote what a "faithful indian companion" once said, "What you mean 'we', paleface?"

I think you had good intentions and were being creativ, but I agree, we can have Walt based threads on many different forums here and all Disney subjects can be traced to him in one way or another.

I meant "we" as the undersigned...but I guess that doesn't hold true anymore!!

Still, the theme parks are named after Walt Disney...and they're holding special tribute to him on the 100th. See what I'm getting at?

Oh, shucks. :brick:

In my opinion, we do have a forum that is dedicated to Walt Disney and his legacy. That forum is called every single one of GrizzlyHall's Posts.

Sure this would be fine by me, if we have enough topics of conversation for such a board. What kinda of topics would you expect to see on there?

There's all kinds of stuff, really. We can discuss his life and times (maybe trivia/rare facts), the things that he valued possibly, his personal influence, interviews, legacy in general, interpretation of his his meanings, maybe photos or quotes, neat stories, discuss his programming... etc. etc. etc. Just like any forum, as time goes on, more and more can be thought of.

Sorry if anyone doesn't like this idea - my intentions were merely honorary to Mr. Disney! I mean, the parks are celebrating him as well...and I thought it would be great that he could have his own section! :)

If I am the only one, then don't worry about it. I just thought it would be an interesting idea...

Anywho, y'all have a safe and happy holiday.

I don't like this idea either. We already do enough "what would walt do/think talk" How much can we discuss him? I mean will we start threads to discuss his preference in underwear? How about what he liked to smoke?

I personally don't see enough topics to call for a whole new board. We can throw an occasional thread into the other areas. Otherwise it's going to be griz talking and crying in his beer in one whole area.

On the other hand, I could just avoid that area altogether and not have to deal with the whining and crying anymore.

Beer?!?!

Anyhow, Fievel, yeah....that brought up a sad note. *sigh* That is a pity - Walt Disney's smoking... That's life, I would suppose...
Anywho, I would be all for a celebration of the life and times.

I find it degrading that we need a board about this. This IS WALD DISNEY Company. If we have gotten so far away from the first 2/3 of that title, then we need more than a board to help us.

Im gonna change my mind here:

It would be diffrent if Walt Disney was still alive.. But because he has passed on. The topics would only go so far. Unlike a Walt Disney World Forum. This one would end quick over lack of material. ;)

My preview of the Walt Disney Forum;

"What would Walt Think?"
"What if Walt was alive today"
"WDW is becoming Eisner World"
"How can they take down COP, Walt's Attraction"
"Taking down WOM, COP, Horizons?!? Walt must be spinning in his grave"
"Is Walt really frozen?"

repeat every week.

Any of the above topics are discussed on a regular basis in the Walt Disney World section of the forums. I suggest some people visit it: WDW

I think a board dedicated to Walt is a good idea. He had a very interesting life and I'm sure there is plenty to talk about. I think it would provide an opportunity to learn more about the man who started it all. The other areas of the forum are really for discussing the parks and other entertainment areas of the Walt Disney Company, but Walt was a lot more than that. Sure there are posts about Walt scattered in those other areas, but with a board all about Walt they would have a home and make things easier for people who are looking for information.
If the board does come to be then the people who don't like the idea or are offended by the idea can just skip it. :)
