Dear Disney: Please fix...

Everything old before you go building something new (Star Was Land, Cars Land, Avatar Land, etc..).

That said:

- Upgrade the Tomorrowland Speedway, and make it be that of Tomorrow, not Yesteryear
- In EPCOT, make that a place of wonder that pushes the brink of science and invention. Not just things we see at Best Buy now.
- ILLUMINATIONS!!! BRING BACK THE SCREAMERS!!!!
- having the characters in set locations. Let them roam!!! Peter Pan running around is as close as it gets at MK.
- Bring back the fun strolling acts. (ie FUTURECORPS!!!!). Sure, they're a novelty and expense, but the little shows DO make a difference for people because it's something you don't see on a daily basis.

I'm sure not everyone will agree, but hey, that's why it's a discussion!

Dear Disney... please fix your vision.

I understand that you are now a Public Corporation with Stockholders. Being a bit unique... please don't do what every one else does - go for bottom line profit.
If you could just bring in a little more of Walt's Spirit? I believe just about everything in this thread would essentially fix itself.

You need a new board position - Chief Imagineer. Someone with a bit of a rumpled suit, who wants to spend lots of money just to make people happy, gets excited over hairbrained things that have never been done before, and is basically a big kid. You need Walt Disney... you can't get him, but you could really work on finding someone LIKE him - then pay attention to him. Even if this year's profits end up being a little lower... or a big project just doesn't have 100% chance of success.

Please - don't become GM with rides :(.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS!!!!

You gotta spend money to make money. MME and FP+ are huge products to help with the flow of the vacations and visitors. Now, go back and give people a reason to come. Go back to what made the place special and bring that back. Just adding new lands will bring in people, but that by itself isn't the answer. Continuing to reinvent and come up with new things, as well as maintaining and repairing the things that are already there, is going to be huge.

Everyone goes on about the monorails, well, maybe it's getting close to time that new monorail trains are looked at. Ones that poss have a small restroom somewhere on the train, in case of a storm and the rail having to be shutdown, that passengers are still comfortable and guests with GAC restroom issues have a small restroom to use in this case. Nothing worse than being stuck and you can't get off/away to handle an issue (if you've never had to deal with it, hope you never do). Also, little kids have little bladders and like people with gastrointestinal issues, sometimes they can't hold it.

In GMR you are traveling into the movies as if they are real worlds, not through their production sets. Why would you get hijacked on a set?

I always assumed the ceiling was supposed to reflect a real movie set which conflicts with the idea of the ride. It could easily be "fixed" by painting the rafters black , but GMR is more likely to close before that ever happens.

Here's another one from me:

Dear Disney, especially WDW, please fix your rationale on how you refurbish rides. Take them down for as long as is needed to thoroughly and completely get the job done correctly. Nothing beats the stories of a ride coming off a lengthy refurb and certain effects still don't work or parts of the rides are the same as before the refurb happened.

Having to inconvenience guests for a period of time is a small price to pay. The little effects, big effects, the smooth ride, etc are all things that guests want to experience, and if you only do what is needed, and mask the problems to address "later", it's only going to hurt the image in the long run.

Dear Disney, and the folks of TDO, and Mr. Kalogridis...Please take a step back from all the new developments that are impacting WDW (MME, FP+, Disney Springs, etc...) and take a good, hard look at the state of the parks and resorts as they are now. Please don't forget that these are the things that got people to come to the resort in the first place. Show them some love and support, and maintenance. They need it. Spend a day in a park, or stay a night at a resort, and see it through OUR eyes....

I've been assured they are required to do this. My sense is that they go without a clue of how things used to be and consider it "fine" because they are so out of touch. These corporate guys don't understand or care about what they perceive as minutia detail. The problem is, the details added up as a whole speak to a lack of general maintenance and overall innovation.

I hope that the executives do indeed have to spend time in the resorts and parks. I am sure it's not enough to get a real feel for things (especially the resorts), or that is my fear at least. I was (and still am) excited about Mr. Kalogridis' return to WDW, and I know leadership changes take time, but I really do wish that the powers that be would take a deep look at things like I mentioned earlier. Given that Mr. Kaolgridis started his career with Disney as a server at CR in 1971, I hope that he still remembers what this magical place was all about then.

Executives don't care about the parks like we do, which is the saddest part.

You'd sell more merchandise.
I have emailed Disney myself telling them this. They leave so much money on the table when every shop has the same things in it. original shops, stores with ride specific gifts would go along way. They should see when they introduce things like Orange Bird merch that sales take off. One big store with everything in it, and a bunch of originals all over the park is whats needed.

MAGIC KINGDOM
* Fix The Little Mermaid, give it the DCA treatment so it doesn't look so cheap and plastic

* Give Space Mountain the refurb it deserves, not what it received.

* Fix the lack of shade and places to sit. Instead of taking away benches and trees, how about adding benches and trees? I don't need to see people climbing on fountains, camped out on the ground in front of stores or restaurants because that's the only place to sit or find shade.

EPCOT
* Fix Journey into Imagination and Universe of Energy. PLEASE fix and update them.

* Fix Spaceship Earth's descent into black curtains.

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
* Fix the sightline down Hollywood Boulevard by removing the Sorceror Mickey Hat. In a new park, not built the way this park was originally, it would be a fine icon.

ANIMAL KINGDOM
* Fix the concerete base so that the Yeti can be turned on, or find a way to have there not be so much strain to have it working

* Fix the lack of things to do by adding a flat ride/dark ride (the Avatar boat ride will go a long way!)

* Fix Dinoland.

Granted, mine aren't technically "issues" but if they do read these boards, I think they should take a lot of it into account. "Little" things like rides that aren't dated, or even kept up with, really do matter.

And listen to the guests who take their time to give you a well thought out explanation of why something isn't right, or isn't working. Such as the fountain at the Poly. I've never seen such unity, but then it's as if the paying guests, who love Disney and the Poly, are given a giant middle finger by the company.

And stop budget cutting entertainment. And a few more characters roaming around wouldn't hurt. Someone, such as Pinocchio, shouldn't be considered "rare" (whether they are in the parade or not)

the problem is if they ever are taken around the parks it is done by the park VP and a big group that will ensure them that everything is fine. They won't ever actually experience it as a guest.

I'd like to suggest that Disney "fix" the wait times for the Magical Express at the Orlando Airport. There's nothing magical about waiting in line inside the airport for 30 minutes or more for a bus to arrive. Then, upon boarding, waiting another 15 minutes in a parked bus before pulling away.

My wife and I have experienced this several times. Sure there was a trip or two where the bus pulled right up but unfortunately a long wait appears to be more of the norm rather than an exception. You'd think that this situation is easily corrected by adding another bus (or two) to each route.

The Trees have been a hot topic on these boards, and they really are important. Why would anyone want to vacation in a concrete jungle in Central Florida?

For $70 we take a car service and get one gratis stop at Publix that we can stock up on water and snacks for the room and parks...ME is inconsistent and can slow down the beginning of the magic;)
