Amazing if so.

Being discussed here, among other places.

Welp...if you needed any more evidence that the Walt Disney Company isn't Walt Disney's company anymore....

This is sick beyond belief.

What he tweeted was much worse than Roseanne, but will she be rehired? Hah, don't hold your breath. (And I'm not talking politics here, I'm talking about hypocrisy. But you can bet that the reason the Robert Iger Company won't rehire her is based on politics! ) And PUH-LEEZE don't say "oh, he apologized", "oh, they were just JOKES"...anyone who would come up with such horrific garbage in the first place in an attempt to be "funny" or "edgy" is a sick low horrible person.

But oh boy the Guardian fanboys are rejoicing! Because Guardians fanboys are so convinced that ONLY James Gunn could successfully write and direct a movie about a trigger-happy raccoon (hey, how about that Mosque shooting in New Zealand!) and a talking asparagus stalk that you're all cheering about this money-motivated lapse of moral judgement.

It is truly sad the priorities some people have in relation to entertainment. What lives they must lead, if they have lives, which isn't likely.

God, I hate you, Robert Iger. You are scum.

This wasn't political on Iger's part. He's a Democrat but he's not a "true believer" left-wing culture warrior. He's a capitalist and this was all about the money.

Perhaps, but then Roseanne was making a lot of money, so...?

First of all, I don't remember Roseanne ever acknowledging what she said was wrong and apologizing.

And second of all, people who worked on her showed either quit or threatened to quit. People who worked on GOTG issued a statement asking Gunn be rehired.

I think the people who worked closely with Roseanne and Gunn know their true character, and their reactions tells me all I need to know.

You have faulty recall, it seems. She did apologize: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/rosean...-tweet-about-valerie-jarrett-leaving-twitter/

And what makes what Roseanne posted and what Gunn posted not equal in offensiveness? Gunn never deleted those awful tweets, so how sincere was his apology?

I did loads of research when this whole thing went down. James Gunn made those tweets/blog posts 12 years ago, and apologized for them a couple of years later, admitting that he wasn't a very nice guy when he made them and that even though they were intended as jokes, they weren't funny at all. He then went on to talk about how working on the GotG films helped him to grow as a person.
