You honestly have to do the math yourself.
Make a chart of how much DDP would cost your family daily.

Then look at menus and see what you would actually like to order if you didn't have the meal plan. Put the TiW discount on that.

See which one is cheaper.

Personally, once I made the spreadsheet, I chose TiW. I don't drink soda, but I do drink wine. DDP didn't help me there, but TiW did.
Sometimes I want 2 appetizers instead of an entree. DDP didn't help me there, TiW did.

I don't like Counter service. I mostly eat TS and Signtaures. Again, TiW was the better choice for me.

It's going to require some math. Very few people, if any, are going to want to do it for you...And even if ey wanted to, they'd have to know where and what you want to eat. You'll have to figure out what it will cost each way on your own and then pick the cheapest.

I will say that with 2 adults or with 2 adults & 2 kids, the AP room discount and TiW has always been cheapest for us. I also don't like keeping track of dining credits and asking if I can have this or that thing on the plan.

Good luck!

Oh boy...

There are many factors to consider:

  • Is DDP being offered "free"?
  • What level Resort are you planning to stay at? [Value/Moderate/Deluxe]
  • What AP discounts for room-only are usually available when you're going?
  • What are your eating habits?
  • Do you like alcohol with meals or in bars?
  • Do you prefer TS or QS restaurants or a mix?
  • How many Adults/Children in your party?
  • Do you prefer to pre-pay as much as possible [as a convenience] or pay as you go?
Once you've looked at all that, then do the math to see if it works for you one way or the other.
In simplest terms, when it's myself and my son, even at a Value with "free" dining it's at best break-even. At a Moderate or Deluxe TiW wins, hands down. We like a lot of TS rather than QS, we get room-only AP discounts most trips that save more and I've been known to have a drink or two here and there... ;)
