for what its worth the "film reel" float pictured below was "relocated" out of the park today

one can only assume that they are slowly converting them for the new parade next year?

Actually, they had some technical difficulty with it yesterday. At the very last minute (and I mean the music was starting), it was announced to CMs that Mickey would be on the final float for the parade. It was sitting backstage for a few hours by the parage float building blocked by cones. It might have gone to central shops for major repairs ... or an overhaul ;-)

As of yesterday I was told it was in production services, not Central Shops, for prep work being done for January.

But I`m a bit further away than you are ;)

I'm confused. Are they still running the Dream Come True parade during Christmas this year? Is there not a Christmas Parade at Magic Kingdom? :confused:

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade usually only runs during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. However, starting the day after the last MVMCP, it replaces the normal daytime parade until New Year's Eve.

Really? How interesting. I never knew they didn't run the Christmas parade routinely in December. Thanks for the info.

It seems rather odd however. At least compared to Disneyland.

Yeah that is right. They only do the Christmas parade on MVMCP nights until a few days before Christmas. That's when it starts for normal day guests.

There are pictures here that tell all.

The Mickey Float is gone for refurb, and for now, he's appearing at the top of the castle float with the broomsticks before hand. The Pinnochio float now comes after the title float.

ok ... Let's get in the holiday spirit by seeing what wdw's first christmas as a three-park resort looked like ... Here's december 1989 hours

mvmcp (yeah, it was around)
12/8 and 12/9 from 8 p.m. To 1 a.m.;

candlelight processional
12/16 and 12/17 at 7 p.m.;

mickey's very merry christmas parade
dec. 8 and 9 at 11 p.m.;
dec. 16, 17, and 23 at 2 and 9 p.m.;
dec. 24 at 2 p.m.;
dec. 25-30 at 2 and 9 p.m.;
dec. 31 at 2 p.m.;
one thing i noticed about these hours from 19 years ago.

Other than the two (2) nights of the the candlelight processional, the only time before dec. 23 that the christmas parade was performed everyday was at the mvmcp.

Seems to go against some people assersion, that the recent addition of so many more christmas parties has somehow made events like the christmas parade stop being performed everyday in dec for free for everyone.
It appears that guest lost a total of 4 days of Christmas parade showings. It is only a matter of opinion, but I'm not sure I would qualify that as a rip off.

It looks as though the DDCT parade is just about done. I heard from someone that once the Christmas parade starts showing during the daytime, DDCT will be gone (because the new parade will be starting early Jan). :(

Who did you hear that From??? A few weeks ago on here, CDCT had a 01-23-09 start date.

Anyone one know what the offical name of the parade? I read online "Celebrate Dreams Come True" and "Celebrate Disney Dreams Come True".

Wow where did they come up with that amazing name!? ;):rolleyes:
What site did you read it on? Just curious because I haven't really been following the new parade status.

i'd say its a rip off when back in the 80's they ran the christmas parade during mosty days in december. but then the mvmcp was only mayne 4 nights in dec not 20. i can recall late as 86 at leas the xmas parade being ran twice a day. even if once a day it was still not waiting till a week before christmas for all to see it. if i was at vacation at wdw in early december i'd rather see the xmas parade during the day than have to spend an extra $50 to see it at night & chase around a few xtra characters.:hammer:
