The Blue Sky Cellar preview center at DCA has been closed for the past week while they install new exhibits. The new exhibits are rumored to focus on World of Color and upcoming Paradise Pier projects to be completed in 2010. It opens to the public on Thursday when the park opens, but the media will be there in the morning as well so the local newspapers should offer some coverage. D23 is also hosting some events this week that will be at the Blue Sky Cellar.

I can't be at the park on Thursday to check it out, so hopefully this thread can be the place where we can share TR's and links to pictures and coverage of the new exhibit.

I'm looking forward to seeing some more of the concept art for both World of Color and the new Paradise Pier! :)

Great news. It's good to see that they are keeping this up-to-date. I had visions of it having "coming soon" over 1 year old attractions.

I LOVE THAT ARTWORK!!

So just thought I'd point something out. You can see a description of the scene shown in white pencil on 2 pieces of art:

On the Cheshire Cat one, His face will appear first followed by the "body" in fountains, then Alice will drop in and fall into the little "river" made of fountains below her. I assume the fountains will react to her being dropped in, and the "river" will be psychedeliclly colored.

The WALL-E one says that WALL-E will appear first on the small screen, then the rest of the "space fountains" will appear, followed by the big screens with EVE on it. It says he'll "dive" into the water (his path is the curvy line of colored fountains in the water) and appear on the screen with EVE.

The scene in the above link shows a landscape scene with a river flowing toward the audience. The scene, like others, will be layered with other projections to give a 3-D effect, like on a multiplane animation camera.

Thought I'd point that out.

Blue Sky Cellar Unveils More Exciting New Magic Coming to Disney’s California Adventure Park

Disney Imagineers reveal details of ‘World of Color,’ a nighttime water spectacular coming in spring 2010

ANAHEIM, Calif. (July 16, 2009) – Nestled in the Golden Vine Winery at Disney’s California Adventure, Blue Sky Cellar is a place where guests get a sneak preview of what’s new and what’s next during the expansion of the park. Beginning July 16, guests will see the first in-depth look at “World of Color,” the next major milestone in the expansion of Disney’s California Adventure, opening in spring 2010. Disney Imagineers, the creative minds behind the design and construction of Disney theme parks and attractions, are sharing their models, concepts and sketches to reveal the development of this spectacular water, animation and special effects show.

At Blue Sky Cellar, guests are invited to preview works in progress at Disney’s California Adventure by immersing themselves in a facsimile of an Imagineering workspace. Based on the belief that idea gathering is best when “the sky’s the limit,” Blue Sky Cellar is designed to resemble an Imagineering “charette,” an extended creative idea development meeting. Guests receive an inside look at how Imagineers take “blue sky” ideas and refine them into the classic storytelling that characterizes Disney theme park attractions and adventures.

In this whimsical immersive setting, Imagineers have taken over a former wine cellar and set up shop. Wine barrels have turned into work stations and the former wine tasting room has become a screening room where a video showcases the behind-the-scenes magic that goes into the creation of new and upcoming attractions for Disney’s California Adventure. Additionally, guests in Blue Sky Cellar will have fun testing their knowledge of Disney trivia at one of the interactive workstations.

The video seen in the screening room features Imagineers describing the approach and vision of the Disney California Adventure expansion. Guests will see footage of model-making, sculpting, Blue Sky meetings and all the aspects of bringing a Disney concept to life. In the latest video, Imagineer Steven Davison and others show guests some of the astounding animation and water effects they can expect to see in “World of Color” in 2010.

Included in the original announcement of the multi-year expansion of Disneyland Resort in fall 2007, Blue Sky Cellar is part of the overall commitment to keep the community and Disneyland Resort guests informed of the exciting new and upcoming plans for the resort. Guests are encouraged to check back for updates on additional exciting developments and attractions, both at Blue Sky Cellar and online at www.DisneysCaliforniaAdventure.com.

First report I could find.

http://micechat.com/forums/disneyla...sky-cellar-reopens-featuring-world-color.html

Wow! look at WOC!!! should be nothing short of amazing! Hmm time to upgrade those F! fountains.

Wow indeed! That's a great report, thanks for the link!

This World of Color thing just gets more and more impressive as more information comes out. I hesitate to say this, but it's almost like you don't have to worry about setting your expectations too high with World of Color because the show is going to completely rewrite the book on Disney Nighttime Spectaculars.

As much money and stunning new technology as Disneyland has poured into Fantasmic! over the past three years (and we still haven't even seen the dragon yet), can you imagine by next summer when Fantasmic! is going to seem "old-fashioned" and "quaint" by comparison?!?
