David Koenig on the (near-ish) future of Disneyland park

Gosh, then we better get rid of all those benches. Walt would never approve. Let's add that to the Rules of the Park.

Disneyland rules:
:
Rule 583 - Watch your children at all times
Rule 584 - You must play with your child at all times.
Rule 585 - No sitting on benches
That is really stretching it.

I would be behind a big budget Toontown renovation but to play devils advocate here- the park was very enjoyable for young children for almost 40 years without a Toontown. Toontown is basically a safer more cuddly Fantasyland. As I have said before, the time honored tradition of scaring the daylight out of our children by forcing them to go on dark rides must continue!

I expect a Marvel Land announcement too. I don't think we ll hear anything about the Frozen ride though.

Not until 2019, anyway. That's when the Star Wars land will be (or at least should be) completed.

We can hope the success of BATB will help rethink any mass Frozen plans. Especially since they have so many other films in the pipeline that could be applied to the park.

Frankly, I was kind of hoping that "Moana" would steal some of "Frozen"'s thunder (but for obvious reasons go in Adventureland), but I guess that's not the case. Consider the fact that "Moana" has a female protagonist, but "Frozen" has TWO female protagonists.

It's possible. Maybe they space out the hype since they ll have so much to say about SWL this year. I would still bet on an announcement this year though. 2019 would only be one year before the land opens and they usually announce something this big at least 3 years before. Although- it would be exciting for the general public to get a huge announcement like this only 12 months before opening.

Twice the princesses, twice the worldwide box office: $1.2 billion v. $0.6 billion.

That's right, Moana "only" made $600 million. I'm disappointed because, IMO, Moana is the better overall musical. Not saying Frozen wasn't great, but, IMO, Moana has the edge.

Sure would. But no, instead we get GotG. Yay.

You're not excited? It's gonna be super awesome! Just spectacular! Just ask this guy:

Losing Roger Rabbit would suck. It's like literally the last old school WED FL style dark ride but made in the modern era with a 90s twist.

All the rumors so far have Roger Rabbit surviving any sort of Fantasyland expansion. The ride is still popular and Disney seems to recognize that it would be a major loss to the park.
